Season-ending reflections
Dear fans!
I'm sorry I haven't updated my blog for a long time, but as you know I was very busy with my injury in July and August, when I put my 100% effort to get back to the competition. To be honest, I wasn't happy with that at all, all athletes are trying to keep their bodies healthy and fit. And the only thing I was thinking of and tried to do was getting my unkle back in shape.
I was back in action in the US where I didn't win a single match. I played much better in doubles though .
I was starting to feel much better on court during tournaments in China… The Isner match is the one I will never forget. Everyone talked about how many matchpoints I squandered, but those who watched the match were saying that Isner was more lucky that day. Pity, but life goes on. I played my best tennis after the injury in Vienna, I beat Blake and played a very good match against Melzer (check some highlights videos on YouTube).
After those matches I didn't play any other match due to my doubles. Oliver and I qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London and that was the target of the season. It's a very special tournament for all of us. The draw was not good at all but we were ready to fight for the semifinal spot. We started very well in the first match against Bhupathi and Mirnyi. We had an early break in the first set (4:3 and serve), but we lost it, lost 1st set in the tiebreaker and also 2nd set. It was a very close match and the one that prevented us from making it to the semis. The match on Wednesday against Moodie, Norman… let's not talk about it at all as I was the worst player on the court… And that pushed me to play relaxed on Friday against the champions. We beat them 6-0, 1-6 and 10-6! I was very happy and excited about that win; the last match of the season and a big win against Nestor and Zimonjic. After that great match and with high spirits I packed my stuff with no tennis equipment and went on unbelievable holidays with my girlfriend! We had this opportunity courtesy of my very good friend Lukasz, so I would like to thank him this way once again.
Since arriving to frozen Europe, I started to work out with Oliver in Prague. We played club matches for our team TK Neride (here are some pictures from the Czech Extraliga 2010: http://www.protenis.cz/fotogalerie/set.php?catid=210 - look how many tennis stars were competing!).
At the moment I'm looking forward to Christmas Eve. I will spend these special moments with my whole family in Boleslawiec and on the 27th of December I'll fly to Brisbane where I start my next season.
Greetings to all of you, I'm wishing you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2011. Hope to see you out there at the tournaments!
Lukasz
