Johnny Millman, no he isn't going to be one of the alltime greats, and I am not starting this thread because of nationalistic reasons either.
He made sure he finished his schooling before starting to play on the tour, which is a good thing and he is a good guy with a very positive attitude.
Played well this week by making the semis of the Burnie Challenger losing to Klein, who won the title. After a few days at home, he is going to Spain and playing Futures events on the clay, which is a surface that he enjoys playing on. It will help the development of his game and also he can use his fitness.
He has won a Futures title and made a final in a Romanian futures as a qualifier.
Kosakowski feeding on Aussies in Mexico - beat Reid 75 in 3rd yesterday and repeated the score-line today against Mailman, beating him 64 06 75.
Not John's day, on the clay
April 15th. So 2 weeks. He'd need to make the semi's in both weeks at the minimum to go close. Personally, he may get the Wildcard from Tennis Australia. He's now higher than Ebden in the rankings and with Matosevic, Tomic and Hewitt guaranteed of main draw it could be between them both for the final spot.
John deserves the wild card but I suspect they will probably go with a favourite in Ebden who is also with the powers that be in Davis Cup. It doesnt matter much as he will be in main draw contention on his own merits before too long. Marinko, Lleyton and Bernie need to be careful!
John beat the wild card 6-3 4-6 6-3. Would have thouhgt it would have been easier given his oppenent is ranked 560 in the world. Oh well. Next round he will either play another wildcard Mauricio Astorga or a qualifier. Good chance here.
It would be an absolute joke if Ebden got a wildcard to RG. He'd be one of the biggest walking byes, but the fact he is part of the DC group so they will give it to him.
John actually has won matches on clay, though with all the shoulder problems have limited his play on the surface.
Wang beat Sam Groth the day before so he must be in pretty good form. Disappointing third set score line though from John after winning the second set.
Yep moves onto Guadalajara with a free shot at gaining plenty of points. Joins Matt Barton, Sam Groth and J.P. Smith who are also at the event and in the main draw.
It would be something magnificant if John were able to make the cut directly. Whether he does or doesn't at least he is out there playing week after week at this important time trying his hardest to make the cut directly. Unlike some other Aussies in a similar situation. That attitude from Millman makes him very worthy of a wildcard should he need one.
johny lost to chiudinelli and misses the cut for french open main draw. he will have to play the qualies unless he receives the australian-wc
