I would like to start a thread to keep track of some upcoming juniors.

Name: Noah Rubin
Birthday: 02-21-1996 (15 years old)
Junior Ranking: 42
ATP Ranking: N/A
Description: Noah recently captured his first G1 title (Copa Del Cafe 2012, hardcourt) two weeks ago and is currently at a career high junior ranking of 42 with only 5 itf starts :worship:. His ranking will continue to rise b/c of this week's play at G1 Copa Barranquilla (clay); will play in the quarterfinal. He was a finalist at the Les Petits As a couple of years ago. Noah seems to have a solid game, but he seems kinda short though when standing next to Farren Connor at the Copa Del Cafe final (Connor is listed at 5'11"). However, Noah is two years younger so let's hope that he can add some inches.

Name: Thai-Son Kwiatkowski
Birthday: 02-13-1995 (16 years old)
Junior Ranking: 84
ATP Ranking: N/A
Description: Despite the name, he is not a Thai descendent  . He is actually 1/4 Polish and 3/4 Vietnamese (from local paper). He is close to his career high in junior ranking but the last couple of weeks had him focusing on futures qualifying (not very successful thus far). He has a nice forehand. Here is an old video of him from the local news: Link

Might add more players later.

I mean their roster in general. Assuming all of their players come back healthy for next season, they will return their 5 best players along with adding Mackenzie Macdonald, Gage Brymer, etc... while UVA graduates Jenkins, which is a huge loss, and a depth player in Julen Uriguen (and a couple others could go pro, who knows?). So UCLA definitely returns the best depth of anyone in the nation, which will probably jump them to preseason favorites.

I could hesitantly predict what next year's lineups will look like assuming no one goes pro or gets injured. Pretty much all the names should be recognizable since both schools do an astonishing job of attracting mostly top American players.

UCLA
1 Marcos Giron
2 Denis Novikov
3 Clay Thompson
4 Adrien Puget (he was something like top ten ITF)
5 Dennis Mkrtchian
6 Mackenzie Macdonald

UVA
1 Alex Domijan
2 Mitchell Frank
3 Mac Styslinger
4 Justin Shane
5 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski
6 Ryan Shane/John Harrison Richmond/Luca Corinetlli

Pretty accurate analysis. I thought for some reason that puget is graduating this year. Novikov may turn pro as well. I d say it s pretty even with the first three. Frank , domijan and Mac are pretty even with Giron Novikov and clay. I d even give uva a slight edge. Next three could tilt towards ucla since Thai and Corinteli are freshmen but Richmond and Shane will have a year behind them.

Countdown: Kwiatkowski Decides

It's official, congrats to Thai.

The question wasn't so much where Thai-Son Kwiatkowski would go to college, but whether he would go.

Kwiatkowski, 17, a Blue Chip recruit from Charlotte, N.C., said he has played tennis as long as he can remember and wants to reach its highest level - the ATP Tour.

"I never thought that college would be my path, but I can still mature and get better in college," he said. "For sure, I've always wanted to be a touring pro."

Ranked fourth in the senior class and first in the Southeast by Tennisrecruiting.net, he recently committed to the University of Virginia. Given his background and the Cavaliers' excellent tennis program and academics, it would have been beyond stunning if he had picked anywhere else.

"My parents actually met at UVa, so it's pretty ironic," he said. "Both my parents went to UVa. I've been to the school many times and watched football and basketball games. I love the school, love the campus.

"I've always dreamed of going to UVa. They're No. 2 in the country and they've been to the finals many times, so I'd love to help them make that next push."

From NCAA individual crowns to team indoor national titles, the Cavaliers have accomplished just about everything possible in collegiate tennis - except an NCAA team championship. They were runners-up in 2012 and '11, semifinalists in 2010 and quarterfinalists in 2009, losing to Steve Johnson and Southern California all four times. They fell in the semis in 2008 and '07, to Georgia on both occasions, and in the quarterfinals in 2006 and '05.

It seems certain the Cavaliers will remain among college tennis' elite. A panel assembled by Tennisrecruiting.net rated UVa coach Brian Boland's 2012 spring class, headed by Mac Styslinger, the nation's best. Kwiatkowski and fellow Blue Chipper Jordan Daigle of Lafayette, La. are among the guys who will give the Cavaliers another top-rated group for 2013.

If Kwiatkowski's parents' background didn't preordain him to Charlottesville, his familiarity with Andres Pedroso might have. Pedroso is now a Virginia assistant coach, but the former Duke star coached Kwiatkowski long before the recruiting process.........read more

Zootennis:

The acceptances for the 2012 Eddie Herr ITF Grade 1 have been released, with world No. 1 junior girls Taylor Townsend and No. 3 boy Gianluigi Quinzi topping the lists. The US boys receiving entry in the main draw are: Noah Rubin, Mackenzie McDonald, Spencer Papa, Thai Kwiatkowski (who today announced his commitment to the University of Virginia), Martin Redlicki, Luca Corinteli and Michael Mmoh. Stefan Kozlov, who has been injured, is not on the list. In addition to Quinzi, there are two other Top 10 boys entries: Nikola Milojevic of Serbia and Frederico Silva of Portugal.

http://tenniskalamazoo.blogspot.com/2012/11/eddie-herr-preview-list-of-18s-main.html

I arrived at the IMG Bollettieri Academy this afternoon and was amazed by all the changes since last year. The indoor tennis facility is no longer serving as tournament headquarters, with many new tents everywhere--for registration, match calling, officials, players lounge, vendors, you name it. There is also a new Prince building just a few steps from court 8, where the stringers and the score reporting are located. I believe that scores are going up on the internet as soon as they are recorded, so please check the TennisLink site often if you are looking for a particular result.

The place to go for the order of play for the start of the 18s qualifying on Saturday is eddieherr.com, which also has links to the qualifying draws.

The wild cards for the 18s main draw, which begins Monday:

Boys:
JC Aragone
Deiton Baughman
Djorde Djokovic
Osni Junior
Toshiki Matsuya
Tommy Mylnikov
Ronnie Schneider
Henrik Wiersholm
Americans in bold. I'm surprised that Wiersholm will play 18s instead of 16s.

So Kudla was the last American winner. How many more years does Domijan have left in his college eligibility?

Martin Redlicki is no clay specialist but did get 3 rd place in 18 s clay courts beating Baughman. Corinteli won clay courts last year beating Rubin in the final, Donaldson should get through Schnuur, Thai has a tough one, Henrik with a little chance, Noah should cruise, Kerznerman will win, Spencer has an easy one, macky wins tomorrow and so does Baughman. These are my caals, so I see more than a few getting through. And I think Schneider will surprise Garin
