The clay season is coming, that's not the period to hope better than 2 rounds in a row.

No, clay is the time for loosing against unknown guy  and since we have more doubles to follow it's more sad.

If we exclude qualies & challengers it's now more than 6 month it hasn't happen. He had won two match in a row on main tour two times last year in Wim and S'Hert. As the confidence, the frustration can fastly coming for Arno and i'm quite fear for the clay season.

He will have 1144 point in next ranking but in this there are 606 coming from grass 2008 and 82 from clay 2008  He absolutly needs to win many points before july otherwise he will be again #150 and i'm not sure the come back from last year can be repeated  Indeed he needs to win a tournament  He entered a lot of event surely because of that but it will also need very ggod draw and to do upsets.

Come'on guy it"s now or never :rocker2:

the change in the points system this year isn't going to help... he has to do well in larger tournaments, it's not much use accumulating a few points here and there, when the grass points come off.

it's hard to imagine which larger clay tournament will give him a miracle... but yes, it's perhaps now or never!!!

Arnaud is seed this week, it was a long time he hasn't been but bad draw. First round Ljubicic who he's not the same as in the past of course but he did quarter in IW and had beaten Arno in their last 6 meetings . If Arno wins he could get Gil who is on fire since few weeks. Well tough quarter. Bennet had withdrawn so Arno should not play doubles, i feel a bad week

CLEMENT, Arnaud (FRA, 8) vs LJUBICIC, Ivan (CRO)
MARTIN, Alberto (ESP) vs GIL, Frederico (POR)
Q vs Q
EL AMRANI, Reda (MOR, WC) vs MONTANES, Albert (ESP, 3)

thanks for the news soulage :worship:

i haven't really followed tennis since the aus open :p

with this draw i'm surprised though, given the quality of his opponents... how come he's still ranked above them?

"He found"
Something lets me think he won't stay a long time in Casa.

ps: merci soulage pour les infos, toujours au taquet ! :)

6-7(6)/7-5/4-6 in three hours.

Frustrating. Ivan was winable and without his serve, 16 aces, he would have been beaten. I missed some games when i come back home but saw most part of the match.

1set: Both saved 1 BP on their opening service game and then held easily until 5-6 where Arno had to save 2 MP. Tie-break: Ivan hit 3 aces on his 3 first serves  and was up 5-1 but Arno come back to 5-5 to made a DF. He saved an other MP on Ivan's serve to finally lose on his own serve .

2set: Arnaud was very frustrated and went to 40-00 down on his serve in opening game. He saved only two. while Ivan was serving for the set Arno broke back and broke again to close the set. From 3-5 to 7-5 .

3set: Arno was broken at 1-1. At 3-5, he saved 2 MP but no miracle then, Ljubicic closed the match 6-4.

It was not an horrible first match on clay but Ivan was not really good and against clay players he will suffer. Casabanca was an open tournament the others will be tough for him. Well an other loose in first round . The clay season will be really painful to follow.

Allegro est vraiment pas très bon lol They were 5-1 30-00 on Allegro's serve and lost the first set 6-7 :haha: always in trouble in Allegro's serve indeed. With a good partner he would have go far sure. Casablanca was the unlucky tournament, a poor draw, a poor doubles partner.

The qualies of MC begin saturday, he will be seed but with all the good clay players between 75-150 it's not very useful. I refuse to believe he could go through it's too irreal . Benneteau and Arno are waiting for a doubles WC but with all the stars in MC it's not sure  http://sport.aol.fr/benneteau-une-surface-exigeante-4d3ce70b1e1b6e1f01208173da8d7d2b-a-p1.html

Yes, not a great double player, but probably the only available french-speaking guy in Casablanca. Arnaud looks at the language before the ranking

#17 ·
Monte-Carlo Qualies tomorrow, Arno is seed #2. Ramirez Hildago went through Casablanca qualies and beats Schuettler in MD this week and Alberto Martin is still spanish lol

[2]Arnaud Clement vs Ramirez Hildago
Golubev vs [10]Alberto Martin

He plays on center court as last match.

I don't know what could help him  even taking again holidays. It's now the fourth defeatS in a row, last win was one onth ago :help:

The match against Ljbicic wasn't horrible but Ivan isn't a typical clay player and last monday Arno served quite well. But today the defeat is so huge that's really frightening

Arno won the first game and then lost the seven next  He won only 4/16 second serve points during first set. Btw the first set was just ridiculous. In second set he was broken at 5-6 in the last game of the match after saving many many BP in others games. All along the match he did nothing on Ramirez's serve, no BP, while that guy is not a big server. He surely played very poorly. Alone, without a coach to give him some motivation and calm his mind the clay season, and maybe more , will be long and painful

Bruno, please come back! :awww:

I can apply for the job with my sister :p We're no good with the techniques at all, but our friends tell us we're überpositive and good motivational speakers  Don't have anything to prove the motivation part, except my friends as references ;), but I know for sure we do talk a lot

Of course we wouldn't mind at all to be at tournaments all year  And I could also update his website if the code isn't too difficult ;)

All of the above would be my idea of a fantastic sabbatical :p

Great idea :) and even if he's too bad you can visit nice places like Barcelona, London and many others.

Bennet & Arno are not in doubles draw . The second WC goes to Gicquel/Mathieu so we can conclude they have been refused the WC they asked. The ex-member of french DC doubles team and ex GS winner is no more a guy you want to see in your tournament. Arnaud who plays poorly and no more double to follow. The semi-retirement is just :awww:

Arno should come back in Barcelona in almost 9 days. By which guy will he be destroyed that time ?

#25 ·
:awww: semi-retirement but way too many holidays now! more play than work

he should make up his mind if he wants to play on, he has to boost his doubles ranking seriously. he badly needs to play more!

#26 ·
Sometimes he doesn't want to play doubles sometimes his partner withdraw and sometimes he wants to play with a partner but they can't enter the draw.Btw not easy to improve his doubles ranking  And without a good doubles partner the ambitions are low.

I don't know about Arno's motivation but many loss in a row and the clay season are two things which don't lead to optimism  Without a coach i think he can fast sink himself. Maybe he will wake up in Barcelona

I just saw that Ramirez Hidalgo has been easily beaten by Martin

#28 ·
A coach or someone to help him. I just read that since 2 weeks Marco Gicquel who is also coachless is helped by a friend Sebastien Lelievre. Maybe a friend who plays tennis could help Arno and as he's alone without structure i'm always wondering against who he plays out of tournaments? The wall maybe

#29 ·
The wall maybe
:haha:

When he's in Aix, he practices with his brother I guess, and 2/3 friends.
In Paris, there are mika and the Lagardere guys.
I think to be part of this structure should be a good idea. There are all the facilities.
He spends lots of time in paris now, it's not a problem.

He draws Canas who plays poorly since the start of the year except in Houston last week but Arno will surely find a way to be crushed by him  If he manages to win he would face Davydenko so it should be short week again :umbrella:

I don't know if had a french speaker with a good ranking for doubles . The double draw is later

Edit : Double draw is out and the cut was 70# advanced and 60# on site too high for Arnaud and all the others frenchies in Barcelona  He was no more able to enter the 1000 now the 500 and probably soon the 250
