Fognini is proving a mental giant it seems. Was down 5-2 in the first and won the next eight games to lead 3-0 until De Bakker held saving a break point. Very clinical from The Fog :worship:

More talented player won. Good for tennis and humanity whenever bad, gameless vultures lose.

Monumental choke for Thiemo....5-1, had 2 SPs..Had 30-0 at 5-4 hits a DF, then good winner Fognini, and the worst dropshot you would ever see....losing that 5-7 was NID...It's a miracle he actually fighted back from almost getting 0-4 down 2nd set and almost losing 10 games in a row...but what a failure...Level is getting there for Thiemo, but his mentality is still his main weakness.

Fognini is playing some great tennis at the moment and just looks unstoppable. Yes people could say that De Bakker choked after being 5-1 up in set one but Fabio got his act together and was just playing so clinically. De Bakker is never a given win and a stern test so Fabio did well to come through, showing some good mental strength and I really like the potential he's showing. Two titles in two weeks and now maybe a third in three at Umag. Question is... can he keep it up?
