Should be a good match between him and Ramos Vinolas.

Ramos-Vinolas defeated Pete 62 64. He only won 4 points from 18 second serves and failed to save any of the 5 Break Points on his serve. The next tournament Pete is entered for is the Barletta Challenger on Clay next week.

Clear beatdown but time to move onto the next event.

Volandri is definitely beatable, though Pete is still a fair way from he is capable of.

I guess that he's thinking that a win or two in Casablanca and any win in the others and it will be worth it. Also, I think he just wants to play at the highest level possile between now and retirement. From what he said at the start of the season, he doesn't seem interested in playing too much at challengers and will retire if he's restricted to challengers.

Might as well do what he feels is right, enjoy his tennis and not get too caught up counting ranking points.
Although if things don't go well over the Euro clay season then Pete will most likely play clay court challengers for the rest of the year after Wimbledon and try to get his ranking up high enough to make 2012 worth playing.

Casablanka 1st round Q, Peter win 6-2 7-6;)next A. Peya
A match that Luczak will be expecting to win if he's planning on playing tour events. Peya's a good player, but as long as Looch plays well then I'd be confident.

Also, the MD in Casablanca isn't the strongest. Especially the bottom quarter, where there are 3 qualifying spots. A big run in a clay ATP event, which he's capable of, is better than a big run in a challenger, financially and rankings wise. Winning one match in an ATP event through qualifying is equivalent to making the SF in a challenger. And the qualifying draws are essentially the same challenger players, and with less depth. Pete is 31. Playing challengers week in, week out, for little money, isn't really an attractive option for him especially since he's been at the top level, just last year. So, it's wise for someone in his position to take his chances and see what happens.

I think he has the potential for a great week this week upcoming, but first things first, he has to qualify.

Casablanca I get, because of the weaker field and especially weak q-field. But Barcelona and MC are just too high for him atm I think. They are a lot of quality clay courters in those q-draws. And then I think he'd be better off playing some challengers and wins some matches. I guess he will enjoy tennis more when he is winning and getting deep into challengers, than getting eliminated in qualifying draws.
So far this year he tried to qualify for ATP events 5 times, and didn't qualify once. Played first challenger of the year, immediately got to the final. That says enough.

Geez, just let him play where he wants to play.. he's trying to enjoy what is looking like his last year on tour, and we've got people in here whinging about everything.

Good luck against Peya mate..

The worst thing about MTF is that people are in the ass of their favourite players all the time. Why can't people here understand that you can be a fan but at they same time critical on the guy?!

It's perfectly fine with me if he plays all the qualis, or doesn't even play at all. It's his decision, but I don't support it. I think it's not good to stroll through these quali events all the time, playing matches on Sunday mornings without any crowd in the stands. And lose a lot, because these quali draws are often quite tough.

So that's my opinion and that's what a forum is all about. These fan forums as well. What's the use in just mindlessly following and agreeing with everything a player does?

Pete has had problems with Peya before, the last season is tough for him. Just has to keep on fighting away.

Information, support and debate is what the forum is about, and you certainly generated the debate Ad Wim. Great to hear evertone's opinion. Me, I'd support Looch even if he was playing a $10k Futures, he is such a champion.

Winnable match for young Pete.
