Atleast he got a bye....I don't expect him to achieve anything untill closer to the end of the year, gonna take him a while to get his head and training straightened out and going where it needs to go IMO I would like to be proven wrong though
Who's top seeds at stuttgart btw?
Yes I agree, it'll take a while to get his head in the game and be training properly and all that... Hopefully Olympic results will be ok though. (still not sure why he's preceding the Olympics that are on grass with two clay tournaments...)
Top seeds at Stuttgart are Tipsarevic and Monaco. 4th seed is Youzhny.
I think the reason why he's got these 2 claycourt tournaments in stead of maybe andover grass an hard court is because I don't think expects too much at the Olympics so he wants to get a couple more matched on clay to prepare for the Davis cup after Olympics which is held on clay. also I believe he wants to show rafter that he is getting his priorities right, by this I mean putting Davis cup practice and preparation before getting potentially a couple more wins at said grass/hard court tournament instead
All right, well that's good in its own way too I guess. Davis Cup is in September right?
But I do hope he takes Olympics seriously too. After all, it is only every four years and I hope he can represent Australia well there as well.
It is hard to be hopeful for anything great after the recent disappointments. The Olympics will be tough because I believe there are only 16 seeds and no byes so he could face one of the top guys in the first round.
The Goffin loss really hurt ranking wise... Looking at the live rank site for the post-Wimbledon rankings, Bernard will be 510 points behind from where he was before at #28.
yeah, the Davis Cup tie will be September 14-16 on clay in Hamburg, Germany.
Bernard serving and holds 1-0
breaks 2-0, holds for 3-0
Long game but he holds 4-1
Back on serve 4-3
Bellucci playing better now, 4-4
5-5
Bellucci breaks to serve for the set 6-5
Bernard breaks back on the 6th try 6-6
First set Bellucci 7-6
Win or lose, as long as Tomic keeps up his current attitude, I'm happy. Alot better than ive seen lately....he's doing little fist pumps upon winning points looking like he's into the match more, rather than a sort of lulled attitude. So far aswell, when presented with a neutral rally he has been trying to construct points, not pushing nothing.
And bellucci has found some form and just broke back for 3-4 on serve. It will be interesting to see how this match turns out
I agree with Gallace, I was thinking the same actually. He looked into some rallies and went for his shots and didn't give up when Bellucci was serving for the first set, like he often does. It was closer than I expected tbh.
Hope, but it will be tough. In the last three months Bernard has dropped from ranking 36 to 45 while Paire has come from 100 so is on a roll, and is playing on his favourite surface. Winner of the match will be the higher ranked next week.
Bernard broken 0-1, good start from Paire...
2-0 Paire
3-0 Paire
4-0 Paire
5-0 Paire
6-0 Paire
Second set
Bernard wins a game 1-0
2-1 Tomic on serve
Paire saves a BP and holds 2-2
3-2 Tomic
Another BP chance gone, 3-3
Paire breaks 4-3
Back on serve 4-4
Broken again, 5-4 Paire
6-4
So I'm assuming you saw the match, how did Bernie play as in what was he doing wrong? just curious.. cuz i couldnt watch it last night
