Jesse's another upcoming young American (19), I think he's got the most potential after Querrey. He's pretty much worked his way up the rankings through his own merit without any wildcards or such. He qualified for Newport last year and lost in a tight match to Bogdanovic and made the finals of Kalamazoo before having to give Young a walkover. This year, Jesse qualified for Delray beating:

Q1 d. Benedikt Dorsch 7-6(6) 6-4
QR d. Michael Lammer 7-5 6-0
MDE d. Lukasz Kubot 6-3 6-2
RR1 d. Kevin Kim 6-2 6-2

Next up is Benjamin Becker, go Jesse. :yeah:

PS: He's headed to University of Florida this year for college tennis.

You can keep posting here for now, as he's still not officially playing for Canada just yet.

Levine qualifies for Brisbane and draws Falla in the first round. Also he is on the draw sheet as Canadian
So does that mean his papers have gone through and he is now an official nuck?

well in the article written on the atp site doing the preview for tommorrow's action in the tournament its said that he will play as a canadian for the first time so im guessing its gone through

however the draw and everything else still has the US flag/name beside his name

Haven't seen that, except on the scoreboard.

I don't see Levine as being very useful as a Davis Cup player while we're in the World Group. He doesn't do well against top 50 players - he has won just twice in 28 matches against a top 50 player in his career (0 for 8 in 2012). Pospisil, on the other hand is 4 for 10.

But he could be useful for World Group play-offs, when the competition is lower ranked.

I wonder whether part of his motivation for switching is to get a WC into the Masters event, which comes with a nice pay cheque.

BTW he is now listed as Canadian on the ATP site.

It's going to be Nielsen, nice, should make the MD now, problem is none of the qualy spots are very favorable.

Jesse is now our solid No. 2. Hope he is able to play against Spain but can't, can he - needs to be three months. Not that it really matters, 'cause our No. 2, no matter who, is gonna get smoked. Might as well like Peliwo have a go, assuming Pospisil is too injured to get into playing rhythym by then.

Haven't you heard that Nadal, Ferrer and maybe Almagro won't be playing the tie, so our chances of winning it have gone up, I expect Vasek to be alright by then, he should do well.

Frank is a viable number 2, likely wont win but even if Vasek isn't ready te not that big of a drop off, Bettye than just giving Filip some experiance.

The thing that I don't like is the doubles, if Vasek isn't good to go then are we going to play Milos? Frank isn't that good of a doubles player and the doubles will be vital as IMO it's fairly close. If Vasek isn't good to go then I'd think about bringing Adil, have him and Daniel play, not sure if they've played before but Adil is fairly solid, better than tiring Milos out or running Frank out there.

Based on results the last few years, Vasek is the number 2. Frank never pulled off a weekend like Vasek did in Israel, and look at his choke in Mexico a couple years back. However, the problem is that all of our potential number two's are so far off world class level we'll have to wait unfortunately for Peliwo to realize his potential in order to match the big guns.

Levine draws King-Turner, almost certainly he will win his 1st MD match of the year.

#665 ·
Nice 1st MD win of the season, now onto Baker who Levine hasn't lost to in 3 meetings.

#666 ·
Beats Baker, now plays Querrey, will probably lose here, but it's been a very good week for him, time to go to Melbourne and get ready.

#668 ·
It's not time to go to melbourne to get ready for the AO. it's time to concentrate on a winning strategy against Querrey.

Sure it'll be tough to win but you can't have a losing mentality before you go in, you will lose 99% of the time. You don't turn your focus on the next tournament until you shake hands at the net after a loss. He could beat Qerrey and he could win this tournament, sure it's a long shot don't please don't tell Levine that :)

I would say it's more of a mid range match in difficuly. Could be easier, could be tougher. With his form in Auckland, and Robredo losing to Millman(and apparently he didn't play well at all in that match) I think Levine can definately win it, probably 50/50 if you ask me

#673 ·
Yeah, it's winnable, but it's also 5 sets and Robredo has been to the QF here before and Levine never past R2.
