Toy Story is the definition of Manly tear. Actually many manly tears. So many men aged 18-22 were attempting to hold back tears in the movie theater, all failed, rightly so.

Inception. The Matrix (1999). The Prestige. The Departed. The 6th sense. Fight Club. The Hurt Locker.

Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru. Arguably the most fitting, humanistic and poignant conclusion to a film. Very few filmmakers understood the human condition the way Akira did.

After having recently watched Ozu's Late Spring (1949), I say we've got a new contender. It's both poignantly beautiful but also downright depressing. But perhaps most importantly, it is how Ozu delivers it. Masterful.

Love threads about movies. Alright, some of my favorite endings have already been posted here - Se7en and Fight Club are definitely up there. Fincher really has a way of ending his films in awesome fashion, along with Se7en and Fight Club I also loved the ending of The Game, which I think remains his most underrated flick.

Inception definitely had a nice ending, but with Nolan I prefer (both in terms of the general movie and the ending) Memento.

To try and contribute a bit, I loved the endings of Shutter Island and The Life of David Gale, both of which caught me by total surprise. The Big Lebowski also ended great, the scene with Walter scattering Donnie's ashes is one of the funniest. The Life of Brian must be a classic, I also liked the ending of The Truman Show. Magnolia has to be on this list as well, but that's just because it's probably my favorite movie ever. Another one I can think of is probably Donnie Darko.
