i don´t wanna become the new thread opener, hee, but i just need to open this one as it was an unbelievable day, esp. nico´s match vs. koubek! koubek looked like the big winner but then nico fighted back and eventually won, i still can´t believe it! i just hope he isn´t too tied tomorrow for the doubles, let´s hope the best!
vamos nico and giovanni

Hopefully Nico is not too tired today  :)

 unfortunately they didn´t make it through! i think the biggest problem was the tiredness...if nico had more time off between the matches, i´m sure he could have beaten melzer. well...to take out the positive thing, we could see that he´s s till the big fighter and that hes able to play fantastic tennis! let´s hope he can use this for his own now in thailand!

oh i forgot...it´s a shame you couldn´t go there, bamby, it would have been great to have some more supporters for the ecuadorians, although i must say that partly the ecuador-supporters were even louder than the austrians, it was so cool to see that!

oh no, unfortunately i wasn´t in pörtschach, but i have the big luck to receive the austrian channel tw1 which is broadcasting all the austrian tennis tournaments including the davis cup matches, so i was able to watch it on tv at least :D !

We have a lot of German channels, but no Austrian ones :p . When I live on my own, I'm gonna get sattelite, I hear that you can get a lot of channels from all over the world with that :D . I believe it's expensive, but hey never missing Nico's matches will be worth it ;) .

Hello,

This is my first time writting here. I discover the site some weeks ago, and since then I am waiting for my account to be validated. And finally today ...
I try to attach some pictures I took in Pörtschach last weekend. Hopefully it works. They are not too close, but still it's Nico on them. :)

aw thank you so much for those lovely photos!
so you´ve been in pörtschach, that´s great, i guess it´s been a great time. was it the first time you´ve seen nico playing? sorry that i´m so curious :p !
by the way...welcome to the forum, it´s great to see another nico-fan :D !

Thanx for the warm welcome! :wavey:
Yes it was my first time seeing Nico live, but hopefully not the last.
It was a lot of fun there, though I could only go on Sunday and Nico practically disappeared after his match. I still managed to talk a couple of words with Giova, nothing important ... :)

It's what you like to call nothing important ;) . You talked with Giova! I hope I can meet him too someday, hopefully together with Nico, would be nice to see the two brothers together :D .
yeah it would be cool meeting the brothers together!
verus58, am i allowed to ask what about you talked with giovanni? i´m just interested as i never know what to ask them so i never talk to a player at all (besides i´m too shy to) !

I haven't met Giovanni at all yet. :( It would be really nice also because many people who have met him say he looks totally different than his brother. (And actually it is that way, when I see pics of them.)
Jule, the best method to talk to players is to ask them something not tennis-related. At least that is my experience with most of them. For example I chatted to Younes in Stuttgart 2003 (I asked him something about his children), then some glimpses in Paris Bercy 2003 and then haven't met him until Braunschweig this year. When I greeted him there , he still knew me

I always ask for a picture and sometimes when a question pops into my head I ask that too. But when I met Nico, I was so nervous I don't remember what I said and if I even said something :p .
I hope next time I can talk to him a little more.

I'm also curious to know what Verus58 talked about with Giova :D .
He really looks different than his brother, maybe Nico's youngest brother will take after him a little more ;) .

i fully agree with you both, giovanni looks much different than nico but not bad at all, too :p ! a friend of mine saw him a few months ago and she told me he looks much better in real than he does on photos! i saw him on tv while davis cup and i must say he even looked better on tv than on photos, and we all know that players look much better in real than they already do on tv, so that means we can look forward to something good :D !
i fear i would feel the same way like you kezzi, i surely couldn´t say a word when nico stands near me. in braunschweig there would have been a great chance to take "at least" a picture with him as others were already doing so, but even this was too much for me  ! anyway, when i know that i´ll go to a tournament i´ll think about some good questions for the players, hopefully i´ll be brave enough then!
oh i nearly forgot...thanks for all your tips, girls!

it would be fun to meet as the mtf-Nico Lapentti-cheering group at a tournament. :bounce:

Yeah, we could bring a flag or something and cheer for him together :D.
I usually don't dare to cheer for a player when I'm on my own. I always want another person next to me, who's cheering also :p . Otherwise I feel uncomfortable, because everyone would look at me ;) .

There are players, who are so much focussed on their match that they don't hear anything of the cheering of the stands. But most of the players appreciate when you're cheering for them, maybe just BECAUSE you are the only one...I don't care at all to be the only cheering person. :D

i absolutely know what you mean! it´s awful being on your own, so i was glad to have a friend with me in braunschweig this year so we put out my flag and supported him. i´m not sure if he recognized it at all but it was fun, esp. as it seemt people around were not sure what kind of flag it was :D !
so we already have a flag, now we only need to meet, hee! seriously...it would be great fun to be at a tournament altogether, let´s hope for a lottery win and we can do it :) !
