Hello everyone. As you could see, I had to retire from my match against Haase in Montecarlo. I had an important injury in my right ankle. I know it affected the ligament, but I still don't know precisely how bad it was. Tomorrow we will do some studies and see how much time will I have to recover. I hope I can go back to the court as soon as possible, because I'm having a great moment. Thank you very much for all your messages.
Take the time to recover, don't come back too early, Pico. Target RG if possible, but skip it if necessary. Post Wimbledon clay swing should be his goal.
Well good news/bad news. Good news is the injury isn't too extensive and he will be back sooner than later. Bad news is, of course, the ankle being weakened and he not being able to move 100% on it and feel 100% comfortable with it at the French.
Horrible luck for Monaco, he just reached his best ranking again since 2008...
Everything was going so well and one wrong step and he's out for a month
If Monaco made top 10, he woulda deserved it
Doesn't deserve it much less than 7-13 do, only 6 players are at top 10 levels last 12 months, though Almagro might make it with a good clay season and it be pretty deserved
I am not even a little fan of Monaco's boring game but I wish him health and a speedy recovery. Too many injuries in tennis . I think playing Houston after Miami and then Monte Carlo was just too much!
the correct diagnosis is ligaments from the peroneo astragalino are broken, then he has two other ligaments injured. His kinesthesiologist, Diego Rivas, said "we are trying to do everything possible for him to play Roland Garros".
It's too bad. Monaco was becoming another guy revamping his career as he reached his late 20s (think Fish, Bogomolov. Melzer, etc.). Hopefully he'll be able to come back fully healthy from this pretty quickly.
