What type shot are best at for example, serve, Forehand, Backhand, Volley etc.

And what type of player do you do well against?

Like many others I love to play the inside out forehand.

My favorite shot and it's fairly new as of only a few years ago, is the swing volley. Might have other names. In singles I'm usually not all the way up at the net (due to fear); so I take anything I can in the air and put it away using a side swing. Yes like Maria. I love it. ;)

Mine is my forehand. I just recently switched to a full western and man the topspin is crazy. If its not my forehand then it's my double backhand which I can always rely on.

I like to play against net players. I'm not good with volleying (although I am working on it) I do rip some pretty nasty forehands when they hit short balls. The look on their faces when it shoots past them is priceless. Plus i'm more of an agressive baseliner (i still need to work on my angles) I hit the ball with top spin straight back to them push them further and further behind the baseline and when the time is right i send in a forehand volley dropshot for the win. Since they are net players they get tripped up when they play me because they can't really do what they want. I'm talking about my two buddies by the way. They love to play net and they hate playing me haha. I haven't had a chance to play any other net players. The season is not here yet. ;) But me and my friends are rookie-intermediate. I know it won't be so easy if I play other people. But I hope to experience more of a variety of playing styles.

I think my favourite shot is double-handed crossing backhand with an angle very tight :)

I love it when the opponent thinks they're being clever, and goes after your "weak" backhand slice. They don't realise most of the time you're actually the one working them around, and pegging them back with the slice is a great feeling, setting up for that big topspin drive down the line.

Single handed backhand always > double hander ;)

Bekhand slice and bekhand dropshot, as I've been hitting my bekhand onehanded since i started to play tennis many years ago, so i developed nice touch on the bekhand, many players underestimate the slice, of course it can be exposed easily if it is too short or your opponent knows how to play agianst it, but i love the slice, too many palyers lose it easily and tehy don't know how to react on it, cause few players use it efficiently today...

As i play mostly on clay, dropshoting is a must, of the bekhand wing it is a beauty shot, hard to read, if my opponent has a weak first or second serve i even try to hit a dropshot of the return, it is a nice weapon, cause it comes out of nowhere....

i'd like my backhand to become my fav shot. at the moment i don't have a real fav because im too inconsistent.

Haha, that's quite funny if you're being serious! It would definitely throw the opponent's concentration if you came out hitting nothing but slice on the forehand, and then topspin backhands, it would feel to them like they're playing a lefty or some kind of Santoro wizardry going on.

Oh, I see what you mean now.

I know you hit pretty hard and flat on the forehand, mix that with the slice and topspin variation on your backhand means you're giving your opponent a different ball each time.

On top of that, you'll often come in off a forehand slice...you're a nightmare to play by the sounds of it!

I have a killer backhand down the line.

My have a really easy time playing against pushers, serve & volleyers (although they are rare) and hard hitter. I have some serious problems against players who hit with heavy deep topspin shots and are consistent off both wings. My forehand seems to break down versus them.

Probably my forehand in general. I can do anything I want with it. Short angled shots, heavy deep balls, crosscourt, down the line, running pass, its a really crazy shot.

If only my backhand measured up

I know I responded earlier with a "angled volley" as my favorite "shot."

But in my last two (doubles) matches, I've pulled off my favorite "constructed" point.

Serving from the deuce side. Get a medium pace return to my alley that I then lob over the net player in their ad side to force the receiver to cover. Weak lob return.

BOOM. Overhead winner from me angled behind the net person (now on the deuce side and still wondering what's happening).

Mayhap a bit cheesy with the lob thing...but effective as hell (at the Club level ;) ).

Wow, great stuff :worship:

Worth a new thread I think. We can give each other tips of point construction. I'm pretty good at constructing points in singles but stink at doubles, where I play a very predictable game by comparison, so could use some good, solid advice from a pro like yourself, Angle Queen ;)

bh dropshot, sliceing the bh for so many years helps you develop amazing touch on that side, my opponents get frustrated a lot, saying that those are lucky shots, they can think what ever they want, i know its my best shot by far....

My favorite constructed point is to basically camp out on the ad side of the court and hit deep forehands to the opponent's backhand...and if they hit it short, I can either hit it harder to the backhand side, hit a hard down the line shot, or drop shot them.

But my favorite shot is my forehand...my backhand is more consistent, but I get more power on the forehand and dictate better with it. I like to drop shot a lot (almost too much) and then lob them. I'm very much the type that likes to mix things up a ton and toy with an opponent, even if I get obliterated doing so

I really cant decide. My game is very mixed up, for rallies i hot double handed off both sides most of the time, though i often mix it up with one handed backhands and punch forehands. I used to be a baseliner but now i come to the net very often aswell, mostly on the back of low angled one handed forehands. If i had to choose, i suppose my double handed forehand because sometimes i can just pick out angles from nothing and land it straight on the line.
