more impressive - del Potro. I know that Rafa was injured and all but to hold it together and win so comprehensively was impressive. What he proceeded to do in his first final, against the greatest of all time no less, was absolutely amazing.
more deserving - Murray. End up in the position to win enough times, things can finally fall your way.
Murray deserved to win a slam, after coming near it so many times, but Del Potro's win was very impressive, beating Rafa and Fed back to back in a slam isn't easy to do.
Murray deffo played a lot better at Wimbledon and Olympics than in NY. If he'd won the first two rather than the last two it would have been more impressive.
Both Djokovic and Federer were more than a bit shit in their respective finals they lost to Andy and JMDP, mind.
Murray/Del Potro were both the best player over the 2 weeks. No slam is more or less 'deserved', the same way all #1s deserved their ranking.
Both are flukes, but as much as it pains me to say, Mandy. Del Shitro beat Nadal who couldn't serve and Noserer who choked in the most pathetic manner.
Mandy despite being helped by his weather manipulation magic, USTA and many other factors, actually beat exhausted No2e to grab his title. Plus previous achievements must be taken into account as well: Del Shitro can't even win a masters title, while Mandy has a few masters titles under his belt as well as several slam finals.
All in all, Mandy is more deserving slam champ IMO. Del Mugtro is a brainless ballbashing mug who fluked his slam like Johannson, while Mandy, despite lacking game tried his best time and time again until the stars aligned for him.

Who did Murray beat before the finals? Lopez, a guy with one shot. Raonic? A guy with one shot, Cilic (choked but should have been up 2-0), Verdasco (a choker but was unlucky with some calls). Even in the final Djokovic wasn't great and the windy conditions made him play even worse. I'd take JMDP by a clear shot. I understand Nadal fans always like to play the injury card but it's not like Nadal is some hard court GOAT who can't lose when playing well and beating Federer is clearly more impressive than beating Djokovic at the US Open.

Del Potro's was more impressive in that he played out of his mind for much of that tournament. Murray's was more deserving in that he'd already been in multiple slam finals ... eventually it had to go his way.
when taking into account the era difficulty factor, the murray us open win could be considered as equal to 4 of federer's us open titles... or 5 of nadal's french open titles if you want the clay angle...
Del Potro faced an extremely tough draw and played absolutely amazing, the best of his career, during the span of one tournament. Murray played pretty well but nothing amazing and had a very fortunate draw.
