Re: Madrid TMS 2012

Madrid was a horrible tournament. I'm glad Roger wound up winning, although I was for Ferru after Rafa lost to Verdasco. I can't stand Verdasco's attitude. It's very ugly.

Re: Madrid TMS 2012

Yes, it has been really quite, I really wonder why??
Where all his fans???

Still a little sad that Ferru lost to Roger in Madrid I had small hopes he would do the same as Fernandon against Rafa and would finally win against Roger...but well, hope there will be another chance!

On to Rome now

Re: Madrid TMS 2011

More than anything, I wish it hadn't had to end on a break of serve. Somehow, it would have been easier to swallow had he been able to hold and make Djokovic serve for it.

That being said, I am nothing if not irritatingly optimistic. So here are my silver linings:
1. I don't have to watch him lose to Nadal. Again.
2. Less points to have to defend next year (call me a negative Nelly, but all those finals make me fret in advance for when next year comes around).
3. Overall, it was a better result than I had anticipated.
4. He is a wonderful little fighter with perfect hair.

OK, #4 isn't so much of a silver lining as an actual, straight-up, honest-to-God fact, but still.

It could have been so much worse. Onward and upward, mi ninja turtle. [And apparently Rafa in the quarters in Rome FML.]

Djokovic To Battle Giant-killer Bellucci

Novak Djokovic continued his blazing start to the 2011 ATP World Tour season when he toughed out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win Friday over in-form Spaniard David Ferrer to reach the semi-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open. The second-seeded Serb improved to 30-0 on the season with his 32nd consecutive match win, dating back to last year’s Davis Cup final. “I needed to work hard and I was in a good position at a set and a break up but I started playing too defensive,” assessed Djokovic. “He got into the match. It was really close in the third. I got the crucial break.”

The World No. 2 improved to 6-4 against Ferrer, but notched his first win in four meetings on clay. “I was aware of the quality of my opponent today and the fact that I never won against him on clay,” Djokovic said.

“I needed to be emotionally stable and handle in the best possible way because obviously I had to stay focused and work hard and that crowd was behind him which was expected. I wanted to use the opportunity and that’s what I did.”

Ferrer certainly gave Djokovic a run for his money and was satisfied with his performance, despite the outcome. “I think it was a good match from my side,” Ferrer said.

“I tried everything. It’s a pity that I had those two faults with a break. Maybe it could have been a little bit more difficult for him but Novak is a player that has a lot of various ways to play and with his serves, he won more free points than me.”

Re: Madrid TMS 2011

I just wish someone (preferably Rafa) will beat Djoko, so the commentators will shut up. I'm not particularly (really not at all) a fan of Djokovic, and the commentators' constant promotion of him as the "next great thing" turns me against him still more.

Re: Madrid TMS 2011

Oh, David! He did so well to get to a third set. What a depressing ending to a great match. It was so sad that David lost his serve and the match. It isn't just that I don't care for Djokovic, but I genuinely like David.

I hope Rafa can make the final. I like Roger, but he hasn't been playing all that smartly lately.

Re: Madrid TMS 2011

and unfortunately he lost. what a shame really...I really thought he'd be the person to end Novaks streak. But he played really well's just that the other guy is playing phenomenally well this year. Next stop I assume Rome, where he has a lot of points to defend. Hope he does well there too.

Sonja! He's already a God!

I really feel David is a better claycourt player than Novak. But by no means do I expect it to be easy today. Novak is a fantastic player and can absolutely bring the goods. David has to be on fire.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to see the match. So it's up to you ladies to cheer him on.

Ferru would be a God in this forum if he would beat Novak. What is better news, he can do it. Good luck David... He needs huge form today.

His serve from yesterday should be enough in this match anyway,
I really think that he has nice chance in this match.

Re: Madrid TMS 2011

Good luck, David! They keep talking about how Novak hasn't lost a match all year. I hope you are the one who beats him.
