I'd say keep using and developing the shot, it can be usefull to have some diversity in your arsenal.

Re: Western forehand with some slice?

I have a friend that does that with his forehand sometimes. It throws me off quite a bit because he dosen't hit it consistently. It's almost like a mistaken hit but he dosen't hit the ball with the frame.

Just stick with the shot. People are probably telling you to change it because either they think your timing or footwork is off or they're just mad that it gives them trouble. Just sitck with it.

You should use your funky swing to its full potential.

Hit short angled inside-out forehands that spin away from your opponent.

I can provide a video if it would help to make more sense of what I said...

Western forehand with some slice?

Hey there!
I have been wondering about this for a while and finally came up with the idea to ask here...
When I play tennis, I default to using western grip for my forehand.
Whenever I hit the ball though, it has a strange landing pattern.
It bounces high and forces the other player back with the topspin but the ball also "checksmarks" to the right from my perspective like I just sliced it heavy. My friends hate it because it throws them off a lot.
I've had some people to keep my forehand that way and others have said for me to change it and just focus on getting as much topspin as possible.
What do you guys think I should do?
