Re: Aussie Summer '10 : AO Semis, good job Jo:)

Thanks greenhopper for the news update.

To add: he definitely wants to defend his title in Marseille. He hopes to start training beginning of (this) week. He will not focus on his serves for now. The timing is about right, for the first 4 seeds are given a bye in the first round. This will allow him a little bit more time to prepare.

New interview on Jo's official website regarding Rotterdam withdrawal.

Per Google translator, he has a 2 cm tear in an abdominal muscle and this happened during the Almagro match.

hmm I don't think think they could be any more vague describing his injury. I hope it has nothing to do with his old disc problem. he better defend Marseille.

Someone is trying to cut down his schedule, me thinks (or hopes).

PS: "trunk" injury?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has withdrawn from the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament because of a trunk injury. Michael Llodra, tournament winner in 2008, will be replacing his fellow countryman.

Michael Llodra, who would originally participate in the qualifying tournament, was added as the first replacement. No further details regarding Tsonga’s injury were disclosed at this point in time.

The draw for both the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament and the qualification will take place tonight.

We can still be proud of him! I mean, come on semi final is a great achievement! He played 2 fivesetters that he won Let's hope this great form continues into the rest of the season. Hopefully some good performances in GS this year
I agree, SF is a very good result for any player. but the match was soooo depressing that we kind of felt let down. I also felt that Jo would have lost/ had a tough time against Djokovic had Djokovic not gotten sick. So good result but Jo was not playing at the level he should play against top 4-5 players. I really wanted to see how he would fare against Davydenko but no such luck.

What an anti-climax. Those five-setters seem to have taken their toll.

Semi-final is a great result. I'll be happy if he achieves that in any tournament this year.

Re: Aussie Summer '10 : AO Semis versus Fed!

sucky serving, his morale was pretty much abysmal through out the whole match. I wish it didn't have to end with that scoreline but still a good slam result. my only disappointment is the lack of topless winogradsky pictures.

Fed played great, did what he does to lots of players and made Jo look ordinary. I wouldn't overreact and say Jo's play was that bad (though he was obviously somewhat drained).

It's still a great tourny, and as long as Jo takes the positives out of it he should have a fantastic year
