Re: Irish Tennis

James McGee flying the flag for Ireland in the main draw, been a couple of years since we've seen it at a slam event but good luck to the man.

Re: Irish Tennis

Great week for James reaching the QF of the Rimouski Challenger. Very unlucky not to get past number 1 seed Vasek Pospisil losing 3-6 7-6(5) 5-7. Seems his new coach Joseph O' Dwyer is bringing the best out of James, playing top quality tennis. 1st RD: Defeated Polansky 6-4 6-4 and 2nd RD: Defeated Wang 5-7 6-4 6-2.
Also made the final in Brownsville future few weeks ago losing to De Voest in the final. Project high ranking of 273 next week and getting closer grand slam qualies!

Well done to James McGee on winning the Melilla Futures in Spain today! Defeated Safwat 6-3 7-5. Second title of the year!

Re: Irish Tennis

McGee is arguably as talented as Conor and is a better athlete. He also has a superb work-rate.

He's mentally a million miles away from Conor and still loses far too many close matches but he still has time.

Niland was 28 before he cracked the top 200.

Sam Barry has a bigger game than either. It will be interesting to see how he develops after going straight into the pros rather than the usual US Collegiate route...

Re: Irish Tennis

So who is going to replace Niland as number one over the next few years?

Can anybody have the same kind of success as he has?
