Re: Down under 2010

I wanted him to win this, but Isner played well and served incredibly. Still, I felt that Gael somehow lacked the last ounce of conviction to get into the fight which would have been necessary to turn this around after the third set.

Putain, GaŽl. How can you pretend winning grand slams and entering the top 5 if you don't beat Isner-type of guys ? I'm so disappointed...

Allez Gael!

a break up in the third set, and a minibreak in the tiebreak, but this Isner is huge on serve, even on the second!

He's quite mad at the change of draw! He definitely would have preferred Ferrer.
I like to consider myself die-fairly-hard! Jo and Gael are probably my favourite players on tour and I follow the majority of the season so normally catch their matches ^^

Anyway I'm glad he's finding them easy first rounds, hopefully that means he'll have plenty left when he gets into tighter situations ^^

Re: Down under 2010

Well, he had the easiest draw of the whole field, it helps.

I just read the article on lequipe.fr, he's definitely exaggerating when he talks about the marks he would give himself for the match! I know he's joking, but still. He says Rasheed would probably give him 2/20, he'd say 5/20 and 10/20 for the first round.

The first set, yes, it was some of the worst tennis I've seen him play in a while, but if that one deserves a 5/20, I'm lost at words to describe many of his matches.
I'd give him a 12 or 13.

I have not seen it, but good to hear he's winning so easily.

Re: Down under 2010

I tried to wake up for the match today, but succeeded only in waking up shortly after it finished. Anyway, another good win for Gael it seems.

I honestly don't think Isner will cause him too many problems, perhaps because I really don't rate Isner as being that good, but I just see Gael coming out on top pretty easily.

Re: Down under 2010

GaŽl should actually win 6-2 6-2 6-2 against the likes of Veic, who was trying hard, but really has nothing to hurt him.
He was in S&V mood today! Not as spectacular as against Wawrinka, but still. He played S&V on 2/3 of the points in the last service game, for example.
The start was atrocious, 4-1 down in the first set, but then he got his act together and his game was looking great when he bothered to focus.

Isner now. :-/
