Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah that's what I thought! It's quite optimistic. New year, new Richie. Man I hope he plays Sydney. I mean, I'm going to Melbourne... but it's so much easier in Sydney!

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah I thought last year was bad... He wasn't playing well at all last year but that was nothing compared to this year lol. It's annoying for me because i only started properly supporting him ath the beginning of 2008 where his downward slope began, so really hoping for a good, non suspended 2010 :D ALLEZ !

Richard is on the Entry List for Brisbane.

I'm still wishing really hard for Sydney...

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

I would rather he didn't play that week at all, but I guess an early Brisbane loss wouldn't be the best preparation. And that title is indeed distasteful, but I like the attitude of the tournament director.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

He'll have to play, he is defending an absolute shed load of points 270 points up to and including the Aussie open. He had Sydney semi's last year so 90 points so he needs to play bigtime.

Auckland could be good for him, draw won't be that great as most people will play Sydney so it could be confidence boosting if he does a few rounds.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah, but going to Auckland then back into Australia would have to be kind of annoying, since you have to go through our customs again

It is important for him to defend the points, that's true, but I dunno, sometimes playing both weeks hinders your performance at the AO. That said, we should just hope, for now, that he actually has the option

Dang! It's so much easier to travel to NZ and back if you're Australian. I had to beg the nice lady to give me a stamp on my passport in Christchurch.

I'll just be happy if he can play, but I wish he was playing Sydney!!!! BAH!!! :bigcry:

Sidenote, ya.. let me be the 37th person to say that headline is a disaster. Journalistic standards in NZ hey. Gross.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yes, I hope so too. Still nothing on their website about releasing a decision and it should be done around 7th Dec if they haven't applied to delay it.

I think his choice of tournaments actually shows he still thinks he stands a chance in the slams. If he didn't he could just play Chennai because the draw there is really really weak.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Well he might still play Sydney. It's his first choice but I expect the draw is going to be filled with top players there and there aren't likely to be many withdrawals at the start of the season.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah.. he always does so well here, it'd be a shame if he didn't make the cut. Plus, stalking him is way easier when he's in the country.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah that is so true. I'm planning to do some UK Richard stalking later in the year if he heads my way lol. I'm a bit worried because I read that Auckland's surface isn't as similar to the AO as Sydney so it's not as good preparation.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yeah I agree, I mean, any court time is beneficial, but I read the words, "the No1 court will be resurfaced with Plexicushion for the 2011 event" and thought, well that's not bloody helpful is it? I just have to hope there are some withdrawals... or injuries at Brisbane. I feel horrible for saying that!!

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

He's ok for Brisbane he's made the main draw for that one. It just looks from that article like he isn't going to make Sydney.

He so needs the points too.
He's not on much for the year at all and he has semis to defend at Brisbane and Sydney and a 3rd round AO.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

That's what I mean, Brisbane is before Sydney.. so I'm hoping for some injuries there so they withdraw from Sydney. And I still feel horrible for it. Oh well, I'm biased!

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

I don't care where he plays as long as he plays

Last year Auckland had a million live streams. Sydney was televised though. I just found out I have holidays till the end of the Aussie Open. Awesome :bounce:

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Oh I don't like the Auckland tourney. But if he can play that's all that matters.

Just hope he is training and working out and not sitting on his couch watching soapies and eating twinkies.

Re: OFFICIAL Richard's 2010 SCHEDULE & SCORING

Yea, I don't care where he palys as long as he can play. No matter where he plays he'll have to climb back up th ernakings.

And yes, I hope he is training but this must be particularly hard time because he can't really even seriously be working with his next "permanent" coach until all this is settled. This should be the time players are working on major improvements to their game and he can't even finalized any coaching arrangements.
