Lefy Handed yes, but he dosent like Carpet..
in the interwiev than ETQNV did on February he told us than he likes not to hard and fast and either clay and slow.. a moderate speed in both ..
Good thing he qualified for Gstaad, that will get in more into the picture and maybe give him a WC sometime.
Too bad he lost in 3rd round qualification again at Segovia last week. Maybe he should stick to playing smaller challengers, like the ones in Russia right now, he would be directly in...
IMO, he is the Argentinian player with more future...
Below his last results:
Last week he Qualified to San Sebastian:
First Round #339 (1)Federico del Bonis (ARG) bye
Second Round #339 (1)Federico del Bonis (ARG) d. #674 Pedro Sousa (POR) 6-1 6-3
Qualifying Round #339 (1)Federico del Bonis (ARG) d. #607 (8)Thomas Cazes-Carrere (FRA) 6-3 6-2
but then lost to:
#327 Gabriel Trujillo (ESP) d. #339 (q)Federico del Bonis (ARG) 6-4 7-5
This week in Manerbio, Italy he qualified again!!!
First Round [3] Federico Del Bonis (ARG) a Tim Goransson (SWE) 6-2/6-2
Second Round [3] Federico Del Bonis (ARG) a Manuel Jorquera (ITA) 6-4/7-6
Qualifying Round [3] Federico Del Bonis (ARG) a [8] Marc Sierber (ALE) 6-2/6-2
I expect he can win 1 or 2 more matches and earn some useful points, so he can avoid doing qualies in the next tournament, he is almost very near the cuts...
If you see this this year he had played lots of qualies and won most of them...
Manerbio ch 75H- qualified and still playing...
San Sebastian 35H - qualifed, lost 1st round
Segovia 125H - lost in qualifying round.
Gstaad ATP 250 - qualified, lost 1st round.
Recanti 35H - lost in qualifying round but entered as LL and lost in 2nd Round.
Cordoba 100H - lost in qualifying round.
Braunschweig 125H - qualified, lost 1st round.
Milan 35H - qualified, lost SemiFinal.
Napoli 100H - qualified, lost Quarter Final.
If he were from a country that has more challengers tournaments he would had been already playing as direct aceptance and would have had 3 or more WC to the entry draw but seems that finaly he break it through and would start avoiding qualies soon...
He's doing very well, demolishing everyone in Challenger qualifying but is unlucky with the draws. This week he has a good draw so hopefully some well-needed points. Anyhow, good to see him play almost every week.
Maybe he should stick to some big futures. He probably gets very far in those, because they're the same players as in challenger qualifying, so maybe he earns more points that way.
He had some disappointing results lately, but that was against pretty good opponents and we shouldn't expect he wins against everyone right now. He is still just 18 and it's already amazing he is ranked this high so that he can get directly into challengers.
This week he is playing Santiago and had a very good first round result against Brzezicki, who was quite in form last weeks. And now he has a good 2nd round draw against Saavedra, who defeated Decoud. Vamos Delbo!
