This French Open is shit, no?

*edit*

Found this over at ESPN chat:

Kim, PA: Did Roddick mail it in yesterday?

Greg Garber: (12:37 PM ET) Kim: There were times when it looked to me like he wasn't trying his hardest. Now, remember, Roddick is one of the most earnest, hard-working guys to the Tour and unlike some guys (who shall remain nameless) have a reputation for tanking. Roddick was angry at the way he was playing and unhappy with the pro-Monfils crowd and the umpire who kept the match going into semi-darkness. I was surprised he was as civil as he was in his post-match press conference.

This video shows highlights of Andy arguing with Enric Molina.

In this forum, nobody should. Andy played well, hit the ball well, returned well, served well...if he plays like that he'll surely be a factor at Wimbledon. I just hope he's on Nadal's side of the draw.

His press conference is on the rg website. He was actually pretty composed and said that at this point his opinion was irrelevant. He gave Monfils his due and was very complimentary - now he is on his way to London and grass whoo hooooo!

I thought the match should have been suspended after two sets. Andy would compose himself for Monfils' service games, then lose composure in his service games in the third set. I hope Andy draws Monfils at USO and has a night match. Welcome to the jungle Monfils.
Overall, I'm pleased with the result. Andy just needs to learn to take the calmness to the court when people try to get under his skin.

Sucks, but wasn't unexpected, esp. considering how much the tournament people pulled to make it the best for Monfils. Still, he reached the goal he had set out for here at least and I'm quite hopeful for the grass season. Andy.

And I'm not even gonna bother with GM on the match. I'm sure they're all bashing Andy happily.

I watched the match up to 2-3 in the third set. Midway through the second set, Andy told the umpire and the referee that he could not see. He was actually pretty composed about it. The referee said that they would not go past 9:30, but they did.

Monfils was continuously jacking up the crowds with his hand raising to increase the noise. I do hope that he plays an American at night at the US Open. I would like to see the NY crowds take a crack at him.

Notwithstanding the scoreline, I actually thought that Andy played fairly well. It just seems like Monfils was on fire. That said, I hope Federer crushes him (and I cannot stand Federer).

Andy should still take away a lot of positives from this French Open. He played his matches better and smarter than any previous time.

oh dammit andy sometimes i wish you weren't so classy and diplomatic. i hope he at least made his opinions known to someone about how unfair it was. it doesn't matter if it didn't cause the result. this is a grand slam event and they shouldn't get away with this kind of crap

He did the same distracting things on hardcourts. He choked when he thought serving topspin and 135 mph were effective.

He didn't believe he could run on hardcourts either.
He choked while serving for sets there too.
Memories are blocked out of his head fast, because he stays ignorant.

He was careless about his diet, was heavy and heartless on clay (French Open: lost a 4-2 lead and 6-5 lead, 2 set to 1 lead, dumped clay Davis Cup to make Tursunov look great).

McEnroe desperately told the umpire in Belgium to change Rochus' in shot....
The umpire wrongly agreed with Pat Mc. Pat is NEVER important. I'm sure Blake is as good to Andy.

No, I'm at work, 9 hours behind Paris here in LA. Get to go home in a little while

I guess it shows that it's still easy enough to set him off especially on his worst surface when everything else is going against him too. Shame he didn't do a better job of preparing for that adversity, at least for Davis Cup in July he will have Pmac on the bench to talk him down. As long as he recovers for the grass season and really does well there, it will be OK. Hopefully brooklyn can stick around for a while as well and hopefully when he settles in in London some better memories will come right back for him. Just such a shame an otherwise good run had to end on this kind of note for him... in all his losses in RG, he never went down this meekly, most of his losses there unfortunately have been in 5 sets, just b/c he tries so hard but I guess it was just too much for him today, hopefully he can keep working to improve that aspect

You didn't watch the game Deb?
I think Andy was more frustrated than angry but it was still a surprise for me because he looked in such a great shape mentally lately, he looked so calm and focused. But he had a good reason to feel frustration today.
I really agree that Brooklyn is wonderful for him, she should be a sport psychologist
