Do any of u have any good advice for a new player. Play a lot of small tournaments first or try quail for the atp or all kind of good advice for a newcomer. What a fantastic idea to a game, almost like a real tennis career. Brilliant idea. Any good advice, remember i am completely new, so therefore all is welcome.

ps can't find info on the actual game, how many matches do we pick from and how is a game won, lost or tied?
For new and low ranked players it's better to play challengers, futures and qualies of Grand Slams.

Most people pick the winner of the match based on bookmakers odds (most people pick odds favorites ). They also take into account players' form, W-L record overall, W-L record on the surface, W-L record at the tournament, odds movement. etc.
If you follow tennis closely, you can pick the winner of the match without looking at the odds.
I'd recommend to use following sites: Tennis Explorer: Tennis Stats, WTA & ATP Tennis Betting, Official Site of Men's Professional Tennis | ATP World Tour | Tennis, Tennis Odds Comparison, Tennis Betting Odds & Lines

Number of matches depends on the type of the tournament and stage of the tournament, sometimes there are 2-day rounds. There are two types of matches.
PTS - you predict scoreline of each set. For example you think Federer will win 2-1, you need to send full scoreline like 6-3 4-6 6-4.
SR - you just send the match score, Federer 2-1.

The winner of a TT match is the player who picked more correct winners. If still tied, next step:

-amount of correct SRs (set ratios). Player with more correct SRs wins the match. If still tied, next step.

-amount of sets given to the winners. Sets to the winner count in the matches where the player picked the loser of the match (for example, you picked Nadal 2-1, but he lost, you get 0 correct winners, 0 correct SRs, but 1 set to the winner). If still tied, next step:

-PTS (predict the score).

More can be found here with examples.

You can join at any time.

We limit commitments to one tournament per week.

Without a ranking, I would suggest signing up for Challenger tournaments so you will get to play.

All you have to do is go to the relevant thread and say you're in and send your picks once the tournament starts!

Yes. Manager should not "spend" your PR unless you achieve something with it.

The truth is that I am an awkward old git, and I objected to being "allocated" to a tournament I had not chosen. If I had been sent to Szczecin I would have gone to Istanbul. I am truly sorry you have suffered as a consequence.

It seems that, for a variety of reasons, there are probably 50 fewer players this season than there were last year, so perhaps, as Andre says, the number of tournaments needs to be adjusted.

In any event I would support a rule change so that players who choose an unpopular tournament which is cancelled are awarded a week's holiday from TT!
I sincerely appreciate this message I'm over my initial frustration over it now, it was just a shock when I went to check the draw and saw I wasn't there and had missed qualifying. Hopefully something can be done in the future to sort out the unfortunate situation. Good luck in the tournament

The ambition is to be able to offer every player somewhere to play each week during the season.
A very valid point and a laudable sentiment.
Ok, here's another suggestion - make the unpopular tournaments more popular by reducing the minimum entry numbers from 16 singles and 8 doubles to 8 and 4.
Let's see some vultures!

I perfectly judged my commitment to Szczecin the day before the initial deadline so I would not be in qualifying and yet 4 days later I'm out again?
Very sorry about the situation - it's the first time it's happened when we have transferred players over. Last few months have been a tough spot in the sense we don't have enough players for 4 tournaments but probably just a few too many for three when there is only one challenger. It's unfortunately not a perfect science and if the trend continues (we have lessened the schedule but impossible to predict week to week) we will need to fix potential conflicts in 2017.

If you have any ideas please let us know.
