Re: Frank Dancevic

Giannessi has withdrawn(edit: maybe gotten into the main draw?), replaced by Robert who has like 4 wins this entire year at all levels. So that would be a change in potential R2 match if Frank gets past Vanni

Giannessi is a clay counter though no? He's got 1 top 150 hard court win in his career, granted that was when he qualified here last year and made the 2nd round. And outside of Umag he's had some pretty bad results lately as well. For a top 16 seed I'd rather Giannessi than a lot of these guys. Maybe only Cecchinato, Bagnis and Olivo I would take ahead of him.

I don't expect Frank to qualify obviously, but that would be said for basically every single draw he could have gotten, this one is very on the easy side IMO.

There are guys in there that may qualify instead of Frank but there's nobody there anywhere near the top players in qualies.

It still was a good start for a comeback.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Novikov is the best grass player he's faced so far here, so it wasn't just Frank.

Possibly? Novikov only dropped 7 points on serve, so maybe a bit of lack of gas and some good serving by Novikov, I didn't get a chance to see any of the match.

His returning is just shocking.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Yes he was down a break in the first set - got broken to start. Great recovery.

Brad1973 Great win against Sandgren in the first round of Newport. And a winnable match in the next round. So much more than what I expected in his comeback
