Re: General Timewasting Thread (Taking too long in between points)

Nadull should not be allowed extra time. However, some leniency after long rallies is OK but if you take 35 seconds to wipe your brow and arse after you've served an ace, you should be made to apologise to the audience.

Re: General Timewasting Thread (Taking too long in between points)

Rafa was still taking around 35 seconds between some points, but I think they are slightly faster on the whole.

Dunno how Lahyani doesn't give a warning at 35 seconds though.

Nadal, Djokovic heeding new time policy

Nadal and Djokovic played 21 games in Monte Carlo; they lasted 1 hour and 52 minutes. Last year, in the Rome final, on the same surface, they also played 21 games; those took 2 hours and 20 minutes. There were, as far as I saw, no official time warnings handed out by Lahyani, and both Rafa and Nole were moving with dispatch between points.

Federer has spoken about this before this year, it's not the first time it has been spoken about.

Re: Why did Fed wait until march 2012 to criticize Nadal taking too much time on serv

He already referred to that years ago. This time he was asked again and answered. This thread needs to me merged with the actual thread.

Why did Fed wait until march 2012 to criticize Nadal taking too much time on serve ?

Could you give your opinions, as the "General timewasting thead" does not seem to deal with this side of the question ?

Should be 25 seconds, universally. Get the damn shot clock and end this farce.

not a bad idea but it could be expanded in the way that part of your prize money goes over to a non-time wasting opponent. A bit like in boxing if you miss the weight cut you give up part of the prize money to the opponent. And ofc this should be ruled after the match by watching video replay. During the match the same rules with warning and point penalty applies.

Nadal/Djokovic and other common time wasters would quickly change their ways if it hits them where it hurts, in their wallets.

Yes this is probably one of the more reasonable suggestions. But I don't see why a shot clock can't be ran at all times, clearly visbile for the crowd too just like the serve speed measurement.

That way the crowd will start to take notice and even make noise if a player is wasting time. That makes it impossible for the umpire to play "best buddy" with the top players like they often do. They are there to enforce the rules, not to make friends.

I did not find this question in another thread's title.
Could you either redirect me if I missed it or give below your views on this matter.
Thanks.

Re: General Timewasting Thread (Taking too long in between points)

fed's family barely moved in fed matches.
djoker's parents knew how overrated and arrogant federer was with his smug insults, hatred of hawkeye line challenges (fed loves using challenges to waste time and mock tennis officials), finger wagging at djoker, interviews and evil dirty smiles in matches with injured opponents. djoker's parents clapped loudly and still don't tolerate mockery of their son.
too bad for federer.

Who here is surprised that Federer is among the quickest and Nadal the slowest? Nadal was taking 29s on average.

Re: General Timewasting Thread (Taking too long in between points)

is the game of tennis suffering because of not-so-strict implementation of 25 sec rule? that's the question noone asks here. what is the benefit of its implementation? I know it's a rule, but that doesn't make it less dumb. There is bunch of those already, for example it is illegal by law to kiss on railways in France, just because someone said so.

in my opinion, the rule is stupid, outdated and should be voided.
