Thats your call mate . Like I said, the final starts at 4pm so unless you want to see the dubs final too, 2pm sounds like a good time to arrive.
Have fun & maybe I see you there

I believe the gates open at 10am just like the rest of the days .
IF you can't get tickets, they do allow you entrance onto the grounds for $5.00 & you can watch on the big screens & enjoy the atmosphere of the USO. But as long as Andy isn't there , You should be able to buy a ticket that day.
In 2004 , I bought a ticket the day of the final...Roger vs Lleyton.
It was in the nosebleeds but I was there...thats all that really mattered to me.
The box office opens at 9am so be there before the line gets too long & you should be able to get a ticket.

Would we be able to get groundspasses on-site? How early would you recommend we show up to do that, and how easy is it to get to the ticket booth without getting caught in the lines for ticketholders? Smitty, I'd ask you about yours except that there are two of us, and I'd feel awful if we weren't able to obtain a second--all or none, I guess. Thanks!
You *might* be able to, but I have heard that they are sold out for a lot of this weekend. I attempted to get grounds passes Wednesday night for Thursday and the grounds passes were all sold out, as was any Ashe seat for less than $300.

I'm not sure how early you would have to go... I'd maybe call and find out what time they open and then go as early as possible. Good luck!!

Really? I found quite a few on sale down to about $140 down from $200

Hopefully they're still on sale

I wish your grounds pass was for today I'd have bought it off you

Re: Who is going?

I went to see the qualies on Wednesday last week. We didn't watch that many matches because my fiance Toni is a newbie to tennis and I didn't want to bore him too much. So we first walked around the area and checked the practice courts (saw Feliciano López there) and Louis Armstrong stadium (some blondish woman was there practicing). We watched at Court 13 an end of a ladies' match (Cohen vs. Jidkova which took ages to finish) and then Rik de Voest vs. Alejandro Brizzi. I wanted to see Rik again because I saw him in last April when South Africa played Davis Cup in Finland. I managed to congratulate Rik after the match and wished him good luck for coming matches (nice to see that he made it to the main draw ). When the match was finished it was already 6pm and we were starving so we ate hamburgers ($8.00) with Heineken ($7.50) and took the subway back to our hotel. I guess the US Open tennis complex was ok. Just the food is ridiculously expensive... Maybe some year in the future I have a chance to go there again...

Elina

PS. We took some pics there. I'll try to upload them to internet soon.

Re: Who is going?

I was just reading through the security info and love this one:

The following items are prohibited and MAY NOT be brought onto the premises:
tennis racquets

I will be going Labor Day weekend, just got an outrageously overcharged hotel room in Manhattan, but it is convenient to the Subway. Damn my aunt for moving! I used to have a free couch to sleep on.
For those driving, how easy is it to get there? I might have to drive there Friday morning.

Edit: Nevermind the driving question. I just got train tickets. Saves me some time and money and I won't have to drive like a taxi driver to get around Manhattan (as much as I love that, lol).

Re: Who is going?

Forgot to mention this, prolly woulda been handier during qualleez week but...

The golf course has a super insanely cheap snack bar ($4.50 for a hotdog, fries and large coke). Just walk on the little road past all the outside practice courts (i.e., if you were coming from the subway, go left instead of right when you get across the bridge). also you can get a 16oz beer for like, $4... and they have burgers and other junk. So even though you'd have to actually leave the USTABJKNTC to get to it, it'd save you like, $15 per meal. And it's not really that far....

Re: Who is going?

Water bottle label update: to the best of my knowledge they have repealed this rule - you can now bring in your non-evian water bottle with the label intact.
