Re: Steve Darcis

Although (according to the article above) he was confident that the surgery wouldn't endanger his season start, it now seems that it does.
He has withdrawn from Doha and Canberra as his wrist is not ready yet.

Re: Steve Darcis

According to a Belgian Newspaper Steve Darcis will have an operation on his hand (in 2 weeks) for a problem with a nerve, it wouldn't endanger his season start.

Re: Steve Darcis

The nickname of Steve Darcis being "The Shark" it was obvious for me that I had to "pimp" him into a shark!

Anyway here is my work, in very low bad quality, in honor of "Steve Darcis The Shark":

Re: Steve Darcis

The Belgian Prince () is doing quite well since his shoulder's injury.
After some up & down results he has found a good rythm it seems and he's playing much better.
In october, he lost the final of Mons challenger against Goffin only to win one at Rennes the following week. At the end of the month, he lost in QFs of Geneva's challenger against Bolleli in 3 sets which is not a shame at all.
Playing Noumea to start the year, he defeated the third seed Zeballos in straights in the 2nd round and beat Guez in QFs.
He'll play Mannarino (1st seed/ATP-44) for a place in the final. H2H 2-1. Good luck Steve
Hope to see him back in TOP100 this year

GRAND PRIX HASSAN II - Casablanca, Morocco

Steve Darcis Visits Casablanca Children's Hospital

April 9, 2013 - Steve Darcis took time out from his preparations for the Grand Prix Hassan II on Monday to visit AVEROES, a children’s hospital in Casablanca. The Belgian and tournament officials distributed toys to the young patients.

"It's amazing to see how thankful they are,” said Darcis. “Even if they are suffering and they are in hospital, you can see the smile on their face."

Steve Darcis distributed presents to young children at the hospital.

Re: Steve Darcis

Steve has finally been healthy for an extended period of time without injury and his results and ranking have greatly benefited as a result. Steve started his 2011 season in late February after recuperating from shoulder surgery during the winter of 2010. Steve qualified and made the third round of the French Open, beating Llodra and Petzschner before losing to Monfils. He also qualified and made it to the QF of Vienna in September, defeating Davydenko along the way, and defeated Tursunov in R1 of the US Open. Steve finished 9-6 in ATP play, and was even more successful in challengers, winning two titles, making two semifinals and six semifinals. In Davis Cup, Steve defeated Melzer in four sets for Belgium in the WG playoff before the team lost and was relegated into Group 1. All in all he raised his ranking from #129 when he started 2011 to finish #88.

In 2012, Steve has a 9-6 record, making the finals of the Dallas challenger and QF of San Jose. He's continuing to progress up the rankings and is provisionally #68 in the world.

Hopefully Steve can remain healthy and continue to maintain good form and consistent play, without injury. His next tournament will be Davis Cup vs Great Britain in Glasgow, the winner will advance to the World Group playoffs in September. It will be a tough road tie to win but the Belgians are the favorite to advance. GL to Steve in his singles matches and to the entire team!
