Re: Solid Article for begginners to gambling

It depends the size of your bank. I like to keep a bank of about £1000 and I sometimes stake about 50% of that. I can afford to lose this, so it doesn't bother me hugely if it loses but I have kept up a steady profit over the last 2 years. I do trade a lot which I think is really good to do in tennis due to the amount of swings there is in matches.

Re: Solid Article for begginners to gambling

Tbh, 3% as the rule of thumb is very high imo. Of course, there's the bank/capital definition discussion but if the bankroll is the fundamental investment capital that you are prepared to lose, 1-2% in average (and as a flat rate) is standard for professional gamblers, and I would advise beginners to move between 1-3% with 1% as a point of departure. When you have proven that you can obtain a yield of 5-10% (hopefully closer to 10%) over a period of time, you can take up the percentage to 1.5% or 2%. And I would advise beginners to bet with flat rates (same stake every time) in the first phase as you have to prove that you can obtain a sufficient strike rate.

Not playing Mr Know-it-all here, but I do find 3% as an average stake much too high, for beginners.

Re: Solid Article for begginners to gambling

"The bottom line: Remember, bet 2% - 5% of your bankroll on any given game (more often on the low end of that range). A good rule of thumb is about 3% per game. If you aren't as sure on a game, drop it to 1% or 2% and if you feel very good about a game, take it up to 4%. For those once or twice in a season games that you absolutely love, go with 5% but never more."

Very sound strategy, completely agree.
