Entertaining first set. Funny moment where US military personnel left the stadium and Justin begged to get his first serve back. It was funny. The ref wouldn't give it to him at first, but he was finally able to get it back with Andy's blessing.

So long, Justin! Enjoy your new career! :)

Justin played a good match, in contrast to the Wimbledon match when he came out nervous. He's not quite done yet, his last Slam match, but he still intends on playing some more tournaments this year.

Very nice to see the interview at the end and how both Justin and Andy dealt with the situation :yeah:

:yeah: to Gimelstob for making a Andy match fun to watch. I think he is going to make a great announcer. Just don't use Pat Mac as a role model ;) )

Hate to admit it, Andy was actually hitting some nice groundstrokes. The fh was pretty good.

Yeah, I hope Justin enjoys his new career at broadcasting.

Yes, he's retirig at the end of the year. As he said in the post match interview, he's still got the PR for 3 more tournaments, might as well make some money. And I think he still wants to win one match, so that he can say he came back from back surgery and did it, even at only 70% of his previous strength (the 3 qualifying matches he won at Notts in June don't count on his overall record unfortunately).

I had not been a fan of Gimelstob, the player or the person. He always seemed too chauvanistic, sloppy, and clownish for me to really get into (although Fee's many funny stories about Justin the person helped change my mind about him later on). Had he played most of his matches like he did last night I might have changed my mind about him as a player. That first set was probably the best I'd ever seen him play. I also enjoyed his numerous wardrobe changes. It was a very good, entertaining match, and I'm glad that Justin went out with a bang vs a good friend like Andy Roddick.

I've been reading his blog over at SI.com for a while now and I enjoy his writing style and opinions very much. He'll make a very good commentator and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of him. ;)

Here's a video of Justin's and Andy's comedy act oncourt interview after their match last night:

Well done Roddick :) I saw highlights of the match today and it was quite funny at points with the banter and everything, a goodish match i guess. As the commentators said though, Andy needs to pick up his game though. They were so critical of his playing throughout, he has no hope of winning the title though, in my opinion.
