Too Late (2015) - this is what Tarantino wants to make when he grows up.

If you didn't know.

Yojimbo - A Fistful of Dollars
Seven Samurai - The Magnificent Seven

All good movies. But Japanese originals are cooler.

Stuart Little. This is one of the most underrated kids movies I've seen alongside Spy Kids.

Celine And Julie Go Boating: First time I saw it several years back was a pretty revelatory experience for me.

Great chemistry between 2 leading actresses, a paean to childlike imagination with nods to Alice In Wonderland & Les Vampires. The self-reflexive 2nd half of the movie gets a bit repetitive yet the sheer creativity more than makes up for it.

The Last Stand

Action movie which doesn't take itself too seriously.

Passengers.

So, so, could have been much better. Interesting premise, OK love story in space, but a lot of plot-holes. I mean a lot.

JLaw looks great as a blonde though.

Star Wars Rogue One - 9/10 - Great movie. Well conducted story, without tiring battles and also without abusing of the technlogy, one thing the episodes 1, 2 and 3 surely did. For the first time I thought a Star Wars prequel made 100% sense.

I watched Hacksaw Ridge yesterday. It's only shown in the cinema recently in where I am. If you can stomach those violent scenes of war violence, I'd say go and watch it. I always like Andrew Garfield and he showed maturity as an actor in this film. He will probably get an oscar nomination.

Napoleon (1927, dir. Abel Gance)

Masterpiece — the definition of an epic film. I doubt I will ever have another experience of that magnitude in the cinema. Gance is almost entirely hagiographical in his treatment of his protagonist, but that didn't detract from it at all, for me. If you like cinematic innovation, you need to see this. It is 5½ hours long, but there are almost no static cameras used throughout the entire film. It is remarkable what they were able to do with the technology available to them in 1926.

I have also recently seen The Evil Dead, Alien, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, and An American Werewolf in London. All very enjoyable experiences (part of an all-night marathon at the cinema in my city for Halloween). I had already seen three of them, but it's a different thing to watch them on a big screen in a packed cinema.

Next week, I am going to see Häxan at Newcastle Castle Keep, with a live soundtrack. Oh my.
