I was just wondering who else out there is a mad Jarkko fan? I only took notice of him in January 2003 when he trained with Enqvist. Jarkko has the most wonderful game, I saw him beat Kafelnikov in Melbourne and I was blown away! Anyone that's a fan, feel free to contact me :D

I *think* I just uploaded a photo of Jarkko. lol! Bye for now,

Kristen.

I like the Shark he is a good player and especially since he came from Finland where there isn't a great tennis tradition.

Have you met him? You should, he is very down to earth and has time for everyone.

Actually Bjorkman I will be there in Melb next year, not long to go but long enough.

Im sooo sick of him playing David Nalbandian! 1-3 record... 1-2 record on hard court. hmm. Good luck to him!
As for other Finns... Lauri Kiiski df Timo Nieminen 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 in the futures event in Great Britain.

I'm adding one nice pic of jarkko, and another strange one. It's his reaction to a line call ;)

OOps... I never answered your question...or did I?
I met him for about a minute...during a signing session...but I dont really include that as 'meeting' him. Had a brief convo, thanked him for not playing 5 sets against massu. He laughed, I laughed... and I never saw him again cause Safin kicked his ass a little ;)

It was 4 sets against Massu BG, and he lost to Safin, he didn't get his arse kicked and now you will have to plan to catch him during the Australian summer next year.

Re: Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players

Yeah I know.

and he lost to Safin,
knew that too

he didn't get his arse kicked
I thought I saw a little ass kicking in it. All perhaps due to what people expect from Marat.

oops...speaking of ass-kicking... Jonas gave one to David Nalbandian! yay! Hard-court head to head is even now :) 6-3, 6-3 he plays Carraz next.

Jarkko beat Carraz and is now in the quarters.

thanks nikonyman!
OMG...Jarkko pulls some of the worst expressions when he's concentrating! lol... Good luck against Sjeng!

#14 ·
He will need to be playing well to beat the Schalken.

What's this I see? Straight sets over Sjeng, 6-3, 6-3? ;)
Way to go Jarkko! Now...lets see what he can do with Roger :)

well, just found this thread. Actually Jarkko is one of my favourite players but I'd never realised it until I met him last year. He's really nice. He came to practice so early, before most players. And I did contribute photos of him from last year Thailand Open to tennishack's website.

In my Jarkko yahoo group, a member said that Jarkko's injured his right wrist  and might be out for around six weeks! eek...

#24 ·
Yep...6-8 weeks :( Oh well... I guess the positive (if you can call it that!) is that at least it's his right, and not his left... thank goodness. I just hope he heals well. He's young, hasn't had issues with injuries so he should be sorted out pretty quickly :)

I really hope Jarkko and Paradorn can win a doubles title this year. They played a bunch of matches last year and came close a couple of times. I think their best chance will be in Bangkok later this year because the best tandem out there is only Ram/Erlich which won the title. No Bryan Bros, Bjorkman/Woodbridge or Bhupathi/Mirnyi.
Go Jakke and Ball!!
