Re: Bez pracy nie ma kołaczy Gaston Sopot Cheering Thread

Gato's match was heartbreaking The truth is he really didn't come to Sopot very fit and i knew that even Marach can cause him some trouble. Gaston began match in quite poor mental condition - got warning probably in the second game, then broke his racket in style in third and got one penalty point. Sice then i felt like it was a little bit better, Pantera stopped screaming 'come on you fool' (in spanish of course) and there was just "vamos gato". The pity is that Marach didn't play that well. He's a kind of player that can do probably everything but at very average level. Today he did't need more. The match was over after 2,5h. and i still feel in mourn. I just hope that he'll be back next year, cause even not in the top form, he's always nice to watch.

Well Gaston served for the match against Marach at 5-3 and wasn't good enough to win and lost in a 3rd set tiebreaker.

On this form he won't be making the Davis Cup team and the run continues.

Re: Bez pracy nie ma kołaczy Gaston Sopot Cheering Thread

Hi there everyone. I'm lucky to be in Sopot this year and as Gaston's supporter i had a very tough day. He really did't seem to be happy out there. After he lost his serve at the beginning of the third set, he said to some argentine coaches that he just don't want to play and "why the hell are you making me stay here?" to put it mildly. I gave all my best to support him and luckily, he played a different game when he broke back. I thought that he would tank, but i was glad to see him finding his brain again. Vamos Gaston.

Thanks for posting that, Eléa!
I wasn't able to find out the result till much later, so it was a nice surprise!
Pashanski has been playing well on clay this year, so I imagine Gastón must be feeling satisfied. "Small steps", as GWH said. I checked the stats and it seems Gastón had 6 aces, 4 DFs and 73% of first serves. Doesn't sound too bad...
Now against Marach, who has also been playing well on clay, especially in doubles. But if Gastón is feeling more confident, it shouldn't be too hard!
VAMOS GASTON!!!

Gaston Gaudio

Gaston Gaudio after the match against Boris Pashanski.

Gaston Gaudio was understandably satisfied with his victory over Boris Pashanski.

"I played very well in the first set, I was a little nervous in the second. I did not take advantage of my chances. I had a couple of break points that I did not win. He played really well in the tie break and I lost the set. He was visibly tired in the third set and I was able to win 6/4" - said the Argentinean.

When asked about the ball he hit between his legs Gaudio replied - "I play like that quite often, it usually goes in, this time it did not".

Some journalists wondered weather he played too defensively or not.

"I always try to make as few errors as possible, I did not really feel like I needed to take risks, especially since I am not feeling as confident as I would like to. I am not playing my best tennis right now" explained Gaston.

When asked about his health Gaudio replied - "I feel really good. I am not playing as well as I played two years ago but physically I feel good. My goal is to regain the confidence I had".

"Every clay court tournament I go to I feel like I have a chance to win. I would like to win here but first I have to play the second round, just take it a match at a time and we will see what happens" - said the South American player.

Re: Das di der Teifl! Gaston the last ever Kitzbühel Cheering Thread

Well just wasn't good enough today and he needed to raise his level and wasn't able to. Fair play to Calleri who has been playing well all week.

Now, it's off to Poland in the next installment of the tennis circus.
