Its time to think more about conserving energy, Federer wont beat these guys at Rg.
This. But Fed just loves playing, especially in slams.

Yeah and I don't blame Roger at all for that. In fact, like I said right after he lost to Donskoy, that loss might be a blessing in disguise because he'd play both IW and Miami now, and he's probably hungrier because of that loss than he'd be if he won Dubai.

What a year so far for us Fedfans, did not see this start to 2017 in my wildest dreams.

He certainly should not skip Roland Garros. Clay is less punishing on the body than hard courts and R.G. is the scene of the crowning achievement of his career. He doesn't know how many years he will be able to play so he can't afford to miss what could be his last chance to say goodbye to the adoring Parisian crowd. Should he go all out to win it, as in 2011? No. But he should give it a good shot.

I think he's being sensible saying he'll decide on the clay schedule once he knows where his body is after Miami. I'd suggest playing Monte Carlo, Rome (neither of which he's ever won), & R.G., or if he doesn't feel up to it, just Rome & R.G. QF at R.G. would be a decent result & shouldn't hamper him at Wimbledon.

From all clay court events Federer likes Madrid more now, it is played on altitude and it plays very fast, it can be very convenient with the way he is playing now.

Rome plays similar to Roland Garros, i dont see Federer matching up well with the top guys on clay, just imagine Thiem on clay for this year, with the acceleration he is playing nowadays.. it will be interesting to see, but i am not optimistic on clay.

Exactly. He didn't even waste that much energy in IW.

Plus he needs these gaps now bewteen events to keep himself motivated.. i even think that skipping Miami would be great as well, and maybe play montecarlo and Madrid for the clay season and that is pretty much it.

What a surprise by Vulturerer. Should this really be celebrated?
