Not expecting anything at all in this tournament and the way Gaston has been playing, there is a huge possibility that he will lose to the Bye in the 1st round.

Here is Gaston's section.

(7) GAUDIO, Gaston ARG v Bye
MIRNYI, Max BLR v SAULNIER, Cyril FRA
BJORKMAN, Jonas SWE v ROCHUS, Christophe BEL
Bye v (25) BAGHDATIS, Marcos CYP
(23) BERDYCH, Tomas CZE v Bye
(WC) YOUNG, Donald USA v HENMAN, Tim GBR
PASHANSKI, Boris SCG v SCHUETTLER, Rainer GER
Bye v (9) HEWITT, Lleyton AUS

Good news to wake up to. Great job Gaston. Couldn't see that match as no live coverage yesterday. But we should get some replays this afternoon. I hope it's gonna be part of the matches they will decide to show. Good that I don't work this afternoon too!! :p
Next opponent, Baghdatis. Not easy at all. I have no particular expectations in this match, as usual when 2 of my faves play each other. All I can say is good luck to both. :)

Do you think there is a chance? I will tape it, in case...

Today he'll play in double:

Court 8 start 10:00 AM
(4)Hanley/Ullyett vs Fyrstenberg/Matkowski
Gullickson/Tu vs Benesova/Strycova
Daniilidou/Medina Garrigues vs Cohen-Aloro/Vento-Kabchi
Etlis/Gaudio vs Hrbaty/Stepanek

I´m so happy for Gastón!!!:banana::banana:
The match lasted 2:03, and he was losing 2-4 in the third set, so he showed quite a good attitude to win the next four games! :worship:
It wasn´t televised and the idiots on ESPN didn´t keep us updated so I came to my PC convinced that he´d lost! So many have: Moya, González, Massú, Chela, Ferrer...
Gastón and David are the only Latin Americans left, but Gastón has a tough nut to crack - Baghdatis - whereas David plays Benneteau which is an easier match. (Oh, and I forgot, Acasuso plays Roddick in less than an hour!)
And unfortunately, Chucho lost but that match may be a little controversial... didn't see it but I'm looking for some info. Too bad about those Spanish-speaking guys losing... hey, but Verdasco d Karlovic! The sad part is he faces Pandy today!

VAMOS, GASTON in your doubles!

Guess what? In France, our TV coverage will start after this match   :banghead: i try to stay calme...

You're welcome :) I'll let you guys know when I upload the rest, I forget whether we saw him again Saturday or Sunday so I'm not sure how many more I have to go before I get to him.

We had a great time, it stinks to have to be back to the real world today :p Every day should be a tennis vacation! :p

Thanks Deb for dropping by and giving the link to the pics.

Not too disappointed about this result, especially with Gaston's current mental state. Marcos is a very talented player and had a very calm demeanour out there and lifted his game in the last 2 sets at a level that Gaston wasn't able to compete against the better player today.

Good for Gaston to take a set, but got to love this comment " lo mio no es normal " . Which means something like "what happens to me is not normal".

Congrats to Marcos and well played.

The sweet souls on Sky TV only showed us the first set - before switching to the excitement of Hewitt/Berdych  However, I have to say that even though Gastón won that 1st set I always felt Marcos would take the match - as GWH says, he had a very calm demeanour out there even when he lost the 1st set tie breaker. He was the better player without a doubt and deserved to win.
