Re: Articles & Interviews

I don't know where to post that, maybe you (frenchies) have already read this poll in the last Tennis Magazine.
Several questions, but at the one, I LAUGHED so much !!!!!!

"Do you think there should be only 3 sets in Davis Cup ?"

Yes: 36 %
No: 64 %

It's noticed in the bottom that there's only one french player who answered yes: PAUL HENRI MATHIEU !

France would have won DC in 2002 with this rule.
hahaha paulo I can understand your choice...

Ome : Nice Picture (I also have it)

His mother told me that it won't be easy for him to come back. He's afraid of his injury. So he takes every precaution to come back healthy....

Re: Articles & Interviews

Update from Paulo on his Facebook page: Retour prevu a Indian Wells...reprise d'entrainement depuis une semaine.

Re: Articles & Interviews

Thanks for the article, Fran!
So good that Paulo is not rushing his comeback - no point in playing one match and then be out of the Tour for a couple of months more. Get well, Paulo, hoping to see you in IW.

He says he's been having this groin injury since October and he also has an osseous oedema on the left meniscus. The same problem he had had 10 years ago. "But it's not very serious, it shouldn't take long to be back to normal again."
The groin problem, on the other hand, requires a real rehab programm with a lot of stretching and strengthening exercises. He has an inborn malformation of the hip, that's why he's quite stiff in this area.
He hasn't resumed the training yet when he gives this interview. Or just from the stand, he doesn't run at all.
But he's worked hard on his condition, a lot of biking. They realized he had lost a lot of muscular mass.
He has no idea when he will be able to come back. He really didn't want to start into the new season with an injury, he didn't want to take any risk. But he knows that as soon as he will be given the green light to resume the training, he will be ready with all the condition training he's done during that break.
I think I get the idea of what's wrong with him. Inflammation in the joint usually causes some fluid = edema. Stiffness and pain are normal. Draining inflammatory fluid, rest and rehab should be enough. But the most important thing is definitely the rehab part. Taking these times off is the best decision he has made in a loooooong while

And in Tennis Mag, he gives more details about the injury, but it's older, he didn't know back then when he would be able to come back:

Re: Articles & Interviews

There are a few lines today in L'Equipe, he will skip the entire South American season and come back in Indian Wells. Still the same groin injury. He just resumed the training and will now go to Florida with Malcor, his new coach. He thinks that this time off will do him good, mentally and also physically. He's done special exercises for his injury and he can already feel that it helps on the court.

Re: Articles & Interviews

The injury is unfortunate. I'm a big fan and was looking forward to the start of the season. Hopefully, he can get back playing soon, but I hope he lets it heal up properly first. Even, if he has to get surgery, that would be better than trying to play through it. He probably played the exhibition last week to test where he was at, or possibly, he thought the knee was okay. I doubt he played knowing the knee was still injured. Anyway, it's better this happens now than during the season.
