The seeds for the Masters Cup are now confirmed, and they are as follows:
#1 Roddick
#2 Ferrero
#3 Federer
#4 Coria
#5 Agassi
#6 Schuettler
#7 Moya
#8 Nalbandian

There are exactly 8 possibilities for the draw, as follows:

1. seeds 1,3,5,7 / 2,4,6,8
2. seeds 1,3,5,8 / 2,4,6,7
3. seeds 1,3,6,7 / 2,4,5,8
4. seeds 1,3,6,8 / 2,4,5,7
5. seeds 1,4,5,7 / 2,3,6,8
6. seeds 1,4,5,8 / 2,3,6,7
7. seeds 1,4,6,7 / 2,3,5,8
8. seeds 1,4,6,8 / 2,3,5,7

The most "interesting" draw would be #6, which would put all Americans in one group and all Europeans in the other group. The 2 US players will be in one group also in 1,2 and 5, both Spaniards will be in one group also in 2,4 and 8, both Argentinians will be in one group also in 1, 3 and 8.
Any group that include Federer and Agassi, and therefor have 3 grand-slam winners, should be harder than the opposite group with Coria and Schuettler. Fed-Ex and Andre will be in Roddick's group in options 1 and 2, or in Ferrero's groups in 7 and 8... if one of the latter will come out, surely there would be more cries that the draw is fixed to help Andy...

Right, i'm sure they'll fix the draw just to help Andy

I must agree though, 6 would be really interesting!

They would do it.

If Federer is in Ferrero's group, and Agassi in Roddick's, I'll be pissed to no end.

I hope that Roddick gets both Federer and Schuettler.
You're not the only one :D .

Does it bother anyone else that this Masters Cup is being held outdoors as opposed to being held indoors as the year-end Championships are normally done? I've never been to Houston but I've heard the weather can be less than pleasant at this time of year. This whole outdoor court set up sound silly to me. And I'm sure if it rains during a ESPN broadcast it will be our loss and they won't reshow any match. Well, unless it's two players in particular :p .

I love it!!! I am so sick of the Masters being held indoors when the VAST majority of the season is played outdoors.

It won't be cold in Houston so much as rainy if the weather is bad. If it isn't raining, the weather should be in the 80's in the daytime, 70's if it turns cold and nasty. :) It doesn't get cold really til after Christmas.

I'm in Houston right now - the weather's about 80, sunny, and pretty humid/sticky.

Houston is a coin toss - the weather can be unpredictable on any given day. Last Sunday and Monday it was 50 and rainy then on Tuesday it was like 75 sunny and dry...

so really, who knows. When it's nice at this time of year, though, it's perfect tennis weather. So far this fall has been low on rain (only rained 3 times in the past couple months that I can recall) so *fingers crossed* that it holds up for another couple weeks. I think it will.

The worst thing for the players, IMO is the humidity (and pollution, ahem)... it can just be hard to breathe sometimes. But if they've played here in April, it's no different really, so they should know what to expect.

Put it this way, I'm more concerned about players' injuries and fatigue marring the tournament than the weather here.

I agree. At this point in the year it becomes about survival of the fittest and who ever is left standing even if they're hobbling on one leg :) . Then we have to hope that our favorite has recovered, both mentally and physically, by January for the trip to Australia.

this tournament is indoors right??? :tape:
It's outdoors.

So the players (and us fans watching) are at the weather's whim.

These are, I guess, from the most important to the less important, the "keys of the draw":

Where does Federer go: Roddick or Ferrero.
Where does Agassi go: Roddick or Ferrero.
If Nalbandián (or other players) are injured or not.
Where does Nalbandián go: Federer or Coria.

Well, all of who wanted 6 lost out. I posted the draw. We got #7
