Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

I rise up from the grave to rename Joćo Sousa, after an incredible succession of SP and MP saved these last months. He is to be called from now-on Joćo "The Braveheart" Sousa, or simply (he would prefer) "Braveheart Sousa".

Sousa struggling with his knee but the injury isn't as bad as it looked on the beggining. He's planning to miss only Casablanca and be back for Monte Carlo.

Here is a picture of Joao having dinner tonight. He'll play against James McGee tomorrow in Dubai, should be an easy win.

Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Joćo Sousa keeps the momentum in 2015. After a great AO he just reached the semi-finals in Montpellier. In the QFs defeated Kohlschreiber and that was his 3rd top-25 win in his career, all of them were in indoor HC. He's an indoor specialist, that's for sure. Sousa ended his run this week losing to Jerzy Janowicz in 3 tight sets by 6-7(9) 6-3 1-6. 1st set decided everything, unreal tennis from Sousa but his 1st serve disappeared on the end of the tie-break and couldn't take thatset. In the 3rd he just went out of gas. Like he said after the match, he was "tired mentally and phisically".

Now he's off to Rotterdam, ATP 500, where he faces 8th seed Gilles Simon in the 1st round. Sousa won against the frenchman in 2014 in hardcourt in a really tight match. The matchup is good for both players, they have some of similar styles, anyone has a big weapon on his game. Let's see, Sousa has a chance in this 1st round.

3rd ATP final this week in Metz. Played his best match ever today defeating Monfils in straights. 2nd final of the season. This time he'll face Goffin for the title. Can reach the top-30 for the 1st time if he wins tomorrow.

Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Can anyone give me a light on Pedro? What is the reason he hasn't played at all in 2014 and now is in the Q for US Open? Thank you in advance

Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Joćo lost badly against Cuevas today. But still another great week. He now will reach Top35, and he is about 90 points away from being seeded at the USOpen (he will play a maximum of 5 or 6 tournaments, including two Masters, until the USOpen). He will probably make it, but he needs to achieve much more than that, since he will start to discount half the points of his rank, from the USOpen onwards. A great achievement would be to finish the season within Top50. Still, he has now done enough to secure Top100 finish to the season, and Aussie Open direct acceptance, even if he would lose all matches til the end of the season.

Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Huge victory against Berlocq today, since the Warlocq has been playing really well on clay this season. He won in POrtugal, beating Raonic and Berdych there, and yesterday he had taken Ferrer in two sets. Now, Joćo has a great chance to be seeded at the USOpen, and, as a matter of fact, I see him winning the final tomorrow (that would imediately guarantee him the extra 100 points he needs to be seeded on the US, and to reach Top30).
And he also has a decent draw next week in Hamburg ATP500.
But the most important thing about this victory is what it does to Joćo's confidence playing on clay, which was destroyed after the regular April-May clay-season, where he lost almost every match.
Now, it makes a bit more sense why he chose to play on clay this month.
Go Joćo, the next Top30!

Re: Joćo and Pedro Sousa

Next semifinal for Joćo in this season, after not good match against Lajovic, tomorrow's match against defending champion Berlocq will very hard, but I has hope that Joćo will winner
