What a treat to watch that match live. Vasek played so hard was scared he might cramp or get injured at the end as in past but the match was decided by so little. Vasek managed the crowd and his own off service day so well I was impressed - stadium was a library in the 3rd set when Vasek was frankly the better player for large stretches. Glad for Roger to make the final but Vasek should take so many positives from this week

Given current Paris results (Granollers just lost in R32), it appears that he'll finish the season at #32. Great job by Vasek, just a little bit of improvement could pay huge dividends in 2014. :)

I'll be interested to see what he does...he lost so many matches that were clearly within his grasp, I just hope whatever it is he tries to do to overcome that problem doesn't mean giving up on any of the strengths he already brings to his best games.

But it would be impossible to characterize this year as anything other than a huge success. Congrats Vasek, and enjoy your time off! :)

The sydney entry list has pospisil playing, so he'll be in chennai week 1 and sydney week 2, I guess he just can't wait to get in every tournament he can, can't say I blame him, and I don't see this as a bad thing, he has lots to gain in 250's early on in 2014, and likely gets a crazy tough draw at AO with his ranking, so more to gain in the 250's.

Relatively easy win today versus Bhambri, 63 63 , good start to get to semi's , although very easy route.
Very valuable points, now on to face wawrinka, should be a very tough match to win, although wawrinka may not be in good form yet, so an opportunity.
If he could find a way to win chennai, he could improve his ranking to around 24!

Right now Vasek is at #30 ... could get passed by Chardy &/or Granollers (highly unlikely) but that is pretty irrelevant anyways as anything between 25 & 32 is pretty much same thing for AO seeding ... so loss against Wawa tomorrow doesn't mean much for AO. The big impact result would be if he wins the title in Chennai; then he'd be #24 and have a potential R3 matchup against 9-16 seed rather than 1-8.

Like you mentioned winning chennai is the only big difference, this would give him a much easier r3 possible match up, and allow a greater chance for upsets, and the draw to open up.

Honestly GS' s are the least of his worries at this point, he needs to maximize his 250 and 500's to secure his ranking and guarantee entry to all atp draws.

I really like his early schedule, playing everything he can in the early hardcourt season!

still no withdrawl from Vasek, which is very surprising! although I think it's fine to play everything he can before clay like Milos is this year post AO.
this is a very tough draw like 156 mentions, that's a good thing, giving himself a chance to play himself into better form. he's not likely winning this or going deep at AO ,but the experience and points are very valuable going forward!

I see Vasek is playing doubles in AO with Julian Knowle ... guess he likes playing with Lefty's that are old enough to be his father :)
Seriously, I hope he does play doubles in the bigger tournaments ... I really think he has a shot at being a really good doubles guy ... not a lot of players have shot at being top-20 at both singles & doubles .. maybe not this year for Vasek, but soon I'm hoping.

When is he ever NOT injured!?! I'm sick of him using his injuries as an excuse. Being healthy and fit is important if you want to play tennis!

Prior to that match he'd retired a grand total of 4 times in his pro career. That's a hell of a lot less than most players.

Can You change your name to FormerVasekFan and be done with it already? Or better yet just change it to TerribleMTFTroll

He tweeted it about an hour or so before the match was scheduled to start as well.

I had Querrey beating him because I figured he'd either withdraw or be too hurt to put up much of a fight
