Austria´s 16 years old Dominic Thiem has won his first match as a professional tennis player. He recieved a WC in Kitzbühel and beat Alexandre Sidorenko 3:6 7:6 6:4
He never played a Future match but will recieve 8 points for winning the first round. His next opponent is Victor Crivoi.
In Wimbledon and Roland Garros he practiced with Roger Federer and in Paris with Rafael Nadal.
Good luck!

Good stuff Dominic.

He kinda impressed me in Kitzbuhel this year, even though he lost to Klizan 1-6 6-3 5-7. He has very solid serve and nice one-handed BH.

Oh, I see he was a top junior player, so it makes more sense now, GL to him in the Martin match then, decent chance for a win.:)

1) move this to player's forum please
2) how will he do this year? from the 1993-generation he finished as #3 or #4 last year. last week he played qualies for challenger in heilbronn but lost in R1 vs. Mertl 3,4 :/ tough start hm? let's see how he will do the next weeks...

He had problems with his wisdom teeth in January and Febrary. And now he caught a dictis and is in hospital :( Won't come back before July but hopefully he is at 100% for Kitzbühel.

I think it will take him some more time off. He will come out of the hospital tomorrow, so he was in there for 3 full weeks

I watched Dominic play the Final at Kenitra, Morocco today. He looks to be the real deal; he's got great lower body strength, a solid serve, a dominant forehand, a backhand that's getting more solid, and a great mental fortitude. He picked up 80 ranking points today and will be approximately #148 in the rankings tomorrow. I'm not sure what his schedule is for the rest of the year, but top 100 to 120 is definitely not out of the question.
He beat Gabashvili pretty easily today after a tight first set. His strokes have great spin and velocity, he's consistent, and he's smart around the court. I really like his speed and anticipation - in today's game you have to be able to accelerate very quickly.
The future looks bright - with a great work ethic he's got top ten potential.
