I think Bai retired due to humiliation, he didn't seem injured, I mean no MTO, trainer etc.
Bai just returned to the tennis court after a severe injury so his physical condition can't allow him to play two singles matches in a day whereas he should focus on the National Game in the near future and prevent recurrent injury.
