Re: ATTENTION Kiefer fans!!!! --- Kiwi in Halle!!!!

Good to see that this time of the year with the grass tournaments is arriving soon, especially Halle.

Kiwi beating Federer on grass that's my ultimate dream
But that he did that seems already so long ago

Re: ATTENTION Kiefer fans!!!! --- Kiwi in Halle!!!!

just to complete things also the short interview from Kiwi after his loss against Rainer...

English version:
Quote:
Yesterday you already told us that you weren’t 100 percent on the court. Today the same?
I think you could see it. I practiced really hard the last days and never slept as good as I liked to. But that doesn’t matter. I always go out on the court to win the matches. In the first set I served quite good in general, except one game I was inattentively and got the stupid break. The result sounds like a tough match, but actually these were all fast and easy games. Rainer served well and solid all the time, but I also won my service to love or to 15. As I said, the exception was this game in the first set, when I was 40:0 in the lead but also got the break. I’m very angry about the way I was defeated. I really wanted to go on some further matches, at least the semis. My head wanted, but I couldn’t develop any tension in my game. I have to improve this for Wimbledon.

It sounds like a very easy win for Rainer, doesn’t it?
Yes, for him it was really easy, I think. There wasn’t any danger for him the whole match. He served really good, but at least my returns were also really bad. He played very solid tennis, therefore he absolutely deserved to win.

What do you think: How far Rainer will succeed?
Naturally it is nice to lose against the next champion, therefore I hope he will win on Sunday. I urgently need some rest. I lost the doubles, lost the singles, now I take my prize money and then I go home.
German version:
Quote:

yes, that sounds mentally exhausted... sure, it was a great chance to get another good result in Nottingham, but instead of crashing out in Nottingham, I'd rather love to see him winning three or four rounds in Wimbledon...

too bad they meet so early

very tough match then... I didn't see this match (we couldn't see it because of ZDF ) but Rainer seemed having played a very good match and returned also well. Because otherwise you couldn't win against Johansson's strong serve

Re: ATTENTION Kiefer fans!!!! --- Kiwi in Halle!!!!

VERY WELL DONE, Nicolas!!!!!!!!!!

Nicolas defeated Jonas 5-7 6-4 6-4

AWESOME!!!!

he was already up *5-4 in the first set but lost serve twice to give away the 1st set.

In the 3rd set he blew lots of break points early and I had doubts that all these missed chances will come back on him and that he could finally lose, but then, at 4-4 in the 3rd set, he broke Bjorkman's serve to love for the match-deciding break!!! YAY!!!

That was really a good win, Nicolas!!! Bjorkman on grass is certainly not easy!

Continue like that, I'm so happy now!

Kiwi outguns Lars 6-3 6-4

here is the short interview from the homepage

Quote:
That was a tidy beginning, wasn’t it?
Yes, I’m completely satisfied. I didn’t play any match for ten days, so at first I tried to get into the match. My advantage today was especially my service. And in two important games I returned pretty well and could pass him a few times. That was decisive. From the baseline my game was not yet as good as I introduce myself. But I won in two clear sets. I hope it will go on this way.

How do you feel to be back on grass?
That was a mad feeling. Nevertheless I had some great victories and good experiences here on grass. I was always able to get a lot of confidence. The crowd here is of course particular motivating. Playing tennis at home in beautiful weather makes more fun than anywhere else.

Is grass your favourite surface?
The grass in Halle is my favourite surface.

What did you do last week?
I practiced really hard and really a lot, especially my fitness because of the following weeks with the start of the hard-court season and the Olympics. I need to create a good basic for these challenges, therefore I was a little bit tired today. I need a break tomorrow because on Thursday a really hard opponent is waiting. Both, Safin and Björkman, are hard to fight, and I never played against Safin on grass before. It’ll be a really tough match, probably two or three balls will be decisive. I have to be high concentrated and I need a pretty good service. Of course, you need some luck, too.

yes, that's right... I remember it also that Stich said it would take several days for Safin and his hands to recover... so it would be definatley not wise to play again and risking the advanced but not yet finished healing.

but good fact with Ferrero! Didn't know that Ferrero was originally in for Halle last year, but pulled out because he played the FO final on Sunday.

I was really pissed off because he met Federer in the 2nd round in RG. Sure, Roger didn't play his best tennis this day, but it was an above average day for Nicolas and I still believe he could have beaten many other 2nd round opponents this day if he hadn't drawn Roger

Federer, Ferrero, Schüttler, Nalbandian, Novak, Verkerk, Fish, Safin, Haas

holy shit!!!!!!! look at these names!
Unfortunately, it looks like there are more players better than Kiwi in the ranking.
Pavel, Lopez, Björkman, Ljubicic and Clement has 1005 points like Kiefer.

I think Safin and Nalbandian are not sure to play here, but the superstar of Halle won't be seeded.
