Steve won his 2nd Match against Carlos Berlocq in straight sets. This had been a tough year for Steve so I'm happy with him getting some wins!

Steve won his 1st Rd match defeating Yen-Hsun Lu in straight sets at the Winston-Salem Tournament.

I really admire Steve that he is trying to carry on, but I can't even begin to be able to imagine how hard it must be for him!

I was wondering the same thing. Steve actually won a few matches right after his father died but didn't win a match in Montreal or Cinci. Grief is not a linear process. I think the death of his father who was also his coach has just been a lot for Steve to deal with. I didn't expect much from him after I learned of the death of his father.

Not to take anything away from David Ferrer, but he's not the player he was when he was ranked #4 in the world. On the fast courts of Cincinnati and in front of a home crowd, this was really a match that Steve should have won. He's on the entry list for Winston-Salem. Hopefully he can get a few wins in NC so that he enters the US Open with a bit more confidence.

Steve defeated by Cilic at Wimbledon. Steve has had a tough year with the death of his father who was also his Coach.
