Delpo still needs 300 points to pass Murray Hopefully after AO he will gain #4 or #3 spot

Sorry but this is retarded. Did you guys don't get any coverage in USA or what? Ferrer struggled almost the entire 2013, Doha to WTF. Better player? Are you kidding me? Ferrer got more points but Del Potro was the better tennis player in 2013 by far. ffs look at the players both beaten and lost to.

Ferrer gets the same percentage of his ranking points from Grand Slams and Masters 1000s as Djokovic (76%).

While del Potro gets only 54% of his points from those tournaments. Who is the vulture, Stark Benders?
Ferrer lost to the first player in form at every single GS in 2013 and went 0-3 at WTF.

Del Potro is the 4th favorite to win the AO.

Truth is Ferrer had a crap year. Why is he ranked 3 then you ask? Because he had a very good 2012 that helped to get high seeds at GS in 2013. That high seed artificially went even higher due to Nadal and Murray missing grand slams. Add to that the decline of Federer and the absence of Del Potro from RG and all should become clear. If you can do any objective reasoning that is.

I do believe a lot of people on this thread barely watched any of Del Potro and Ferrer in 2013. This is ridiculous.

Also, Happy New Year mugs!

Last year Del Potro didn't play Sydney and he only reached the 3rd round in Melbourne, so he has massive room for gain.
Imagine that.

1. Nadal
2. Djokovic
3. Ferrer
4. Del Potro

How twisted and backwards a ranking that would be

That goes for almost every player unfortunitely, and wawrinka was very close in 2013 , just couldn't pull thru biggest matches. Most of those stats are pre 2013, and that was an average player wawrinka, last year he stepped up a notch, looked much fitter, maybe maxed out maybe not, we'll see in 2014.
Some good stats is he had the most top 10 wins outside of nadal/djokovic , but I hear what you are saying.

I would say "It's between him and Berdych/Tsonga or both".

Re: The reality is that del Potro is easily the fourth best tennis player in the worl

The organisers well and truly screwed their man over for TV ratings. Tsonga played like a man who had been utterly disheartened/resigned after Nadal won the first semi (reducing his chances of winning RG to 0%) He wasn't injured, but had he been on first, with the possibility of sending Rafole over to Saturday if both matches went long enough, we could have seen a different result.

I guarantee you if we were to get a Wimby SF next year with Murray vs mug, and Djokovic vs Nadal/Federer, the latter would go second, not just because it's a bigger match but it's giving a tiny bit of home advantage as well.

Also, bringing to story JMDP's losses, what's the point? Losing in 5 sets is still losing. Sure, it was more entertaining to watch than Ferrer or anyone else getting straight setted, but he still lost.
Also, I noticed you recently started saying Tsonga was injured in RG. What, you thought now that it's been 6 months everyone forgot that he wasn't?
There was no talk about Tsonga being injured at that time and you know it, you just decided to move on from 'mentally drained Tsonga' to physically injured Tsonga.
No, he was mentally and physically drained after many titanic matches in which he didn't drop a set, even three days of rest before the SF couldn't fix that
