Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Novak loses consecutive top 2, top 3 thanks to the Stanimal win.

Now Federer gets to defend his own time in the consecutive top 4. Top 5 will be up to the players behind Novak.

Federer down to 13 weeks left to go in the top 5. He needs 7 more in the top 4 to catch Connors and 13 at 5.

In 9 weeks, Federer will pass Connors for consecutive weeks in the top 25, and total weeks.

Federer is

95 weeks behind Agassi for time in the top 100.
66 weeks behind Agassi for time in the top 50.
54 weeks behind Agassi for time in the top 25.
53 weeks behind Connors for time in the top 10.
13 weeks behind Connors for time in the top 5.
7 weeks behind Connors for time in the top 4.

Fed owns total time at 1, 2 and 3.

Next week is important - it marks the first time anyone has ever gotten within a year of Connors' time in the top 10. All the points he'll get (he needs 3k approximately) to break the record.

The next closest is Agassi- where he had more longevity than either Fed or Connors, he wasn't able to sustain a high rate of play.

To put it in perspective - Connors put in nearly 3 more years at 5 and above, and 120 weeks at 4 and above.

Those are amazing, amazing records. And Fed's now within single digits of one, and within 3, 4 months of the other.

Yeah. Getting close to the top-5 record also.

Anyways, Nadal does make up the gap. Federer falls to 5, but cuts the gap to 7 weeks. Fed needs just 7 more weeks at 4 to surpass Connors.

One other thing we might want to look at is Agassi's run in 2001.

How close did he get to Guga? He was ranked 2nd after Wimbledon. Didn't play much on clay but won a few more points than Federer has now.

It's looking very good for the top-4 and top-5 total weeks records now I don't agree he's secured top-5 until AO 2018, though. 4045 points hasn't traditionally been enough for top-5.

Federer is now 1k up on Raobot and Kei. Has 5305 points.

That should clinch top 5 until next years AO.

Federer is now 570 points up on Nadal, with Nadal entering clay season defending Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

Federer needs 12 weeks at 4 to pass Connors, so that is June 26th. He'll need to get to July 2nd in order to pass Connors.

Which means he keeps his Wimbledon points.

Only way he falls behind is if Nadal can make up the 570 point deficit. Federer is also only 485 points behind Stanimal.

Fed passes Connors if he passes Stanimal, or he stays ahead of Nadal from now until Wimbledon.

And he only defends Rome QF points after Miami and before Wimby.

Fed chugging along. Has now passed Raobot, but Nadal can still catch him.

Will secure 5th with a SF as Nadal and Kei are both on the same side of the draw.

I agree, I added those last week I have running totals for all interesting recent players but it's not always I remember to add them for each category when they break the top list. Nadal should arrive on that list shortly too.

Whoa. I totally forgot Connors outlasted Lendl.

These days, top players just don't retire easily unless chronic illness/injuries etc, just because of those millions dollars.
