Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Fed this week got the only ranking position in the top-16 he's never had before.

Funny coincidence, Murray also got the only ranking position in the top-16 he's never had before.

Lots of records he's up for next year, still.

The biggy:

Total weeks in the top 4

Quote:
1) Jimmy Connors. 667
2) Roger Federer. 654
Definitely doable if Federer is playing well. Thankfully he owns the top 1, 2 and 3 records. Just 13 weeks shy of the top 4.

Quote:
1) Jimmy Connors. 704
2) Roger Federer. 681
Total weeks top 5

Just 23 weeks behind. A run up the ladder will likely see him make a solid challenge here.

Quote:
1) Jimmy Connors. 816
2) Andre Agassi.. 747
3) Roger Federer. 743 (*)
Federer will come close, maybe a few weeks behind Agassi here. He is still 73 weeks behind Connors. This record may or may not be out of reach depending on what Federer chooses to do. It would be nice to see him pass Agassi to put the biggest challenge on one of Connors' best records.

Quote:
1) Andre Agassi.... 910
2) Jimmy Connors. 864
3) Roger Federer. 824 (*)
Total weeks in the top 25. Federer is just 40 weeks behind Connors. Will have a shot at the second half of next year here. Agassi has cracked the record, but Federer would have to play 2 more years to equal Agassi's longevity. Agassi is a possibility, depending if Federer wants to continue playing.

Quote:
1) Jimmy Connors. 864, 27/8-73 - 19/3-90
2) Roger Federer... 822, 5/2-01 - 24/10-16 (*)
Consecutive weeks at 25. Now that Federer has the consecutive weeks in the top 8, and consecutive weeks in the top 100, we get a good sense of Federer's career arc. It's a pity with the injury this year, he had a choice to have the longest (and best) sustained career of all time. Now Connors will keep the middle career arc, depending on how far Federer falls after WTF, will determine. Fed is 40 weeks short here, a decent time on tour will net him Connor's record.

Quote:
1) Andre Agassi.... 960
2) Jimmy Connors.. 918
3) Roger Federer.. 862 (*)
Weeks in the top 50. Federer will likely seal this in the early part of this year. Federer is 56 weeks behind and will pass Connors at the end of the year, if he plays the year. Again, we see Agassi's longevity was about another 2 years of play for Roger, due to Agassi climbing up the ranks at 16. Federer is likely to be the only one to challenge this record for a long time.

Quote:
1) Jimmy Connors... 873, 27/8-73 - 14/5-90
2) Roger Federer... 855, 12/6-00 - 24/10-16 (*)
Consecutive weeks at 50. Federer likely has already broken this with the Wimbledon Semifinals.

Total weeks in the top 100.

Quote:
1) Andre Agassi.. 1019
2) Jimmy Connors. 963
3) Fabrice Santoro.943
4) Roger Federer. 892 (*)
Ultimate longevity record here. Federer will pass Santoro at the end of the year.

That is eight records he could set next year. All of them are doable.

Vaguely amusing, though, that his ranking has gone *up* this week. What an awful year for tennis it's been

Had Fed been healthy, he would have broken Connors' total weeks at top 4 top 5.

So close. Oh well.

I never thought Fed would ever be out of top 10. I'm so heartbroken. So many records ending because of an injury.

Could stay top-10 until WTF points fall off, 3130 points would be enough today. But of course it makes little difference, he's alraedy 2nd and won't reach Connors regardless.

At least he's guaranteed of taking the consecutive weeks in the top-100 and the top-50. First one will happen this year, the other early next year. Top-25 will be the only consecutive one undecided, he'll definitely stay in it for 2016 and then we'll see in 2017.

He should stay top-10 after USO, since he's got both Basel win and 1000 points from the WTF.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Well Federer cannot break Connors record at top10 (cons.) anymore as it seems. If he stays out from the rest of the season he will be out of top10 after USO I guess.
