Re: Australian Open Doubles Draw

Granollers has equaled his career best ranking of 5(which he reached for one week in 2010).

Lopez has reached a career best of 3 (previous best was 6).

Sijsling jumped 275 spots to 52 and Haase jumped 109 spots to 43.

Agreed, and it's not like Nielsen is all of a sudden a brutal force in doubles. Yes, he had a a fairy tale with Marray, but I still consider him as a singles player, and matched up with Istomin, I think there's not much between them on the doubles court. Shvedova's record in doubles speaks for itself, and Lisicki doesn't really have the greatest skill set for doubles matchplay, but the serve is obviously key. When the woman can hold, it goes a long way to deciding sets in mixed doubles.

Matthew Ebdens(with Gajdosova) dream run continues. Into the (mixed doubles) final now. They beat three good teams to reach the SF(Lisicki/Nielsen, Vesnina/Paes, Petrova/Bhupathi) and (relatively) easier opponent in Shvedova/Istomin in the SF.

Haase and Sijsling, congratulations!

To me, this is almost like Cuevas & Horna or Cabal & Schwank (both RG). Completely unexpected but immensely pleasurable. Hopefully they do what the former pair did and take home the title.

Didn't see any of their matches, but this is pretty much amazing! Forget about singles, start playing doubles full time already!

Yep, very seriously. And both teams were feeding off each other's hypermasculinity too, it seemed.

I'm hoping for a Mediterranean final now, with Marcel and Marc taking the title

6(of the 8) players in the SF have never been in a GS Final. No points for guessing which 6.

Wow, great result for Bolelli and Fogna after that first set ! wasn't able to watch any of it, but nice to read that Simone was playing good and coming up with the crisp volleys at important points.

Hoping for the same as it is, on paper, the easiest scenario but, well, Haase and Sijsling have been on fire this week it seems and it's impossible to look past the Bryans.

Forza ragazzi!
