He appears to be peaking so I'm going to say yes, the FO.

Lol at people wrighting off Ferrer. He is PEAKING, that means he is reaching a new level for himself. He also seems to be peaking at the perfect time. With Nadals fitness in doubt, the path willl be clear for Dave to take his first GS title at the FO.

Scotch whiskey is really good, but I think you drank too much this time.

If he plays his best he can reach one or two SF where he will get routined by a member of top3. Of course he can lose few rounds earlier if he meets some top 40 player on fire.

I dont see why this is a joke thread? Ferrer is in the top 5 favorites to win AO or RG.

Although in the past 6 or 7 years only GOAT contenders ( bar a couple) have won slams in the past rank outsiders could win slams so i hardly think a guy who is top 5 is incapable---RG is a very realistic chance as he can beat Murray and Djokovic on clay and theres no gurantee he will face Fed or Nadal there even if he did old man fed and injured nadal may not be the dominant threats they once were .... just saying.

Wimbledon-I see no chance. Then comes the hard court personally I still do not see him beating Djokovic,Federer or Murray and there are still players like Del Potro, Tsonga ect who although Ferrer has a better head to head record can bring up a surprise on the hard courts.
His best chance would be a the French . Should Nadal not show up ,that would be a boost, however I do not see him beating a healthy Nadal if they meet. If nadal falls outside the top 4 and ferrer takes his spot having a draw where novak, federer and nadal on all the other side of the draw (although for that to happen Murray will have to be in the top 2 at that time)-that would be huge bonus for Ferrer as I think he can defeat Murray.
But overall i think he would also struggle in FO against someone like Djokovic, probably a better chance against Federer but never beaten him before it could be tough.
But hey who would have expect Del Potro to Win the US Open.Would love to see Ferrer win one. With Nadal injured best chance would be at the FO. But I do not believe he will win one this year.Hope he proves me wrong

Anyone who had been following tennis closely at the time. Del Potro beat Nadl 3 times in 2009 and Federer twice, those USO wins didn't come out of the blue.

Ridiculous comparison.

Ferrer will never win slam, who the hell voted for him? He is great player, top 5 longer time now, but his only possible victory at slams over top 4 is vs Murray at RG - how he prooved in 2012. But no way he is going to beat Nole or Roger at slams, Murray will crush him on HC slams and Wimby was close last year, but Murray is clearly superior on grass. Even without Nadal out he must win 2 matches vs top 3- if we consider he has his spot - own quarter. Better question would be - Ferrer in F of slam i say no, his only chance to play slam F would be RG - 4th seed and having Murray in SF - if Murray will be 2nd instead of Roger

Is it a joke?

haha with Nadal gone it seems Ferrer is the new bully victim.

Guy is on the wrong side of 30 and has never been in a slam final. In how many attempts? He has tried, tried and then tried again. If he couldn't even reach a final in the years 2000-2012 I don't see why he'd suddenly win a slam in 2013. If he had "knocked on the door" Murray-style it's another thing but he hasn't even been close.

If Ferrer had the connections that Murray has, he would have won the USO last year. The only reason his match vs. Djokovic was suspended while the Murray matches vs. Djokovic and Berdych were not is because the ATP wanted a Djokovic vs. Murray final and Murray as champion. He's probably a better wind player than Murray and would have easily defeated the choking Murray from the final.

Does this mean Ferrer is a future slam champion? Probably not, it's more accurate to say neither he nor Murray should be anywhere near a slam. But you can't say Murray is a future slam champion and say there's "no chance" for Ferrer with a straight face.

sure! all he has to do is infect Federer/Djokovic/Murray/Nadal with the ebolavirus and then hope that none of the other guys has a particularly good day.

#64 ·
maybe. If Djoker lost the one few hours ago to STAN and that very possible to happen

#66 ·
If he plays like Stan tonight, maybe. But realistically, no. Perhaps a final, but that's about it.

Djokovic doesn't get tired due to certain circumstances.

It would be great for David if Berdych beats him!

If there is one positive to come out of Murray's withdrawal it is the fact that it could really benefit Ferrer.

He avoids Nadal till the final. That is guaranteed. What needs to happen is for Djokovic to take Nadal out in the semi in a 6 hour epic, then Ferrer steps in to take the final.
