Yeah, I'd go with that scoreline. I think Gasquet probably makes things tougher. Been very few easy matches against him, whereas Nishikori would possibly give up after getting trashed in his first service game or two.

Looks like the tournament is going to be held up. And looking like a lot of the damage of the first two rounds has been repaired - could be a decent amount of rest coming, after two straightforward matches with little running. Plus he's in the half of the draw that gets an extra day.

Just needs to actually play well now! Been very disappointed that the serve of recent times seems to have disappeared. I really thought he'd made a big breakthrough with the second serve.

Edgy in the first set against Isner there, but thankfully the John Connor part of Murray's campaign is over.

Back to real tennis in the QF, kind of hard to say what will happen exactly since Murray has been hot and cold and Gasquet looked very good yesterday. I would guess something like Murray wins 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6.

Would love to see him actually play well against Wawrinka if he makes the SF.... it's been a while.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

I never worry for Murray when he's facing servebots. He always exposes their one dimensional game for what it is. He may drop a set but he'll come through easily enough and importantly the rallies will not be long so he should be able to go into the likely Kei encounter with enough gas to get the job done. Though I really do think Kei has a good chance to win that match but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Yeah.... what a total fail from me forgetting the most recent back to back tournaments win.

Murray's tennis has been all over the place this year - possibly reflecting his recent lifestyle and coaching changes. Hopefully we get some stability back, after the obligatory even year muggish loss at Queens.

Wasn't that long ago if you include his vulture rush to the WTF in the latter part of 2014.

Before that his grass season sweep of '13 I guess?

You are right that it doesn't happen often though, especially if you only consider mandatory tournaments.

Rome draw generator needs to repeat for RG, just switch Federer and Wawrinka.

Rome title is excellent - I love this tournament, and another Masters on clay, another win over Djokovic. The way he's serving has been very encouraging. Hope it continues.
Excellent preparation for the big one to say the least. Serve is looking ominously good and getting better it seems. First serve got him out of some tight spots this week.

It all does seem rosy now, but in true typical Murray fan style, I'll have to look at some reasons to be concerned as well.
