Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

Which Davis Cup matches are counted by the ATP like official matches? Maybe @Litotes @Slasher1985

I was checking and Baghdatis have 27 matches that aren't counted by the ATP (All of them in Zone III of Europe).
In the 70's it looks they only count semis and the final of the tournament, in the case of Borg they didn' count 33 matches and would mean a 639-130(83.09%) overall record for him.

A player can "freeze" his PR quota and time limit should he be re-injured and is absent for a minimum of 3 months.

A player loses his PR should the above limits be exhausted or 3 years have passed.

For a PR to count as one of his quota, he must actually play in a tournament.

See regulation 9.03.F for more details.
Perfect, thanks!

Yes, since 2009(?) WTA players can call their coaches to the court once per set during game or set changeovers provided that the players register the coaches prior to the match, coaches sit in a designated area during the match, and wear microphones during the coaching visits. If the opponent takes a medical time out or leaves the court for a bathroom break or attire change, the other player can call the coach to the court without losing a coaching visit.

ATP is considering allowing on court coaching on a trial basis during the Next Gen Finals this year, but details have not been confirmed (or finalized). The last trials were in the late 90s(?), but not adopted as a permanent rule.

Is coaching during a match illegal?
I heard once, Nadal received illegal coaching but I thought it was legal to meet the coach during the match

Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

How did Roger make those IW courts look so fast? I remember watching Wawrinka SF it was slow as hell. Whenever he played last week he made the court look 3 times faster. That baffled me because I would think his play was only one of the factors affecting the coditions.

Hi all tennis lovers

Why so much negativity and being after one another and the players. ?
I have spend the last week reading alot of hours on this site and i am amassed and bewildered with all that negativity and people not treating each other or the players very nice, where is the respect. I am 46 and have followed tennis since the wimbledon finals early 80s(Borg and Mcenroe). So pretty much all open era. My father was a sports tennis commentator and i inherited his love for the game. What an amazing game to watch. I must admit that i had a break in the sampres years(only watching wimbledon). When fed came i was back with full love to the game. It is like art when he plays, which probably means im a what u call it in here fedtard, smil. My point is, even though i enjoy to watch fed the most and love when he wins, am also a big fan of nadal, djokovic, murrey, and all the other great players of this amazing sport. The fact is (i dare say also in here on this site, thinking of all that negativ goat talk), that we have watched tennis on another level, well at least since(borg, mc, conners)(difficult to compare eras) But a least 3 best top 10 players of all time in the last 10-15 years. Its been such a joy and i have had so many amazing hours. I think we should appreciate this great times for Tennis and celebrate that we have been so fortunate to have experienced these amazing players fighting each other with such respect and love for each other and the sport and then the fans on this site behave like …. To both one another and the players, bad style and not the style of fed, nadal, djok and murrey. Tennis is an gentlemans sport and the players are amazing role models unlike many other sports. Why cant we, the fans do the same, its ok to have different opinions or even argue, as long as it is done with respect and humor and good manners. I give praise to the sport and the big players. I love them all. What would they be without each other. Its allways has to be dual to be great. Like calm quite Borg againt fire and passion Mcenroe. Fed without nadal and djoko. Would not be the same level of tennis from out of this world. I really dont get the i am a fan of … and then i hate everybody else. Look at your idols and how they behave when they lose, always giving praise to one another. I must say that am still glad to have joined this site, many interesting treads and well behaved people, just dont like the fanatism and negativity that some expres. I am so exited about this year, hope fed and nadal keep their health and djok and murrey will come back soon, then we will get a year that we have to charize and celebrate, remember it is soon over and then we will regret we did not appreciated it more and each other as fans as well. Wish all players and fans a great 2017. It is a very exiting year.

PS pardon my english(only my third languege)
Hello and welcome.

I do share the same feelings about how posters on this forum sometimes overreact or express their thoughts in a negative, or even impolite manner. As a moderator on the site, my fellow moderators and I are trying to find ways to make the forum more productive and friendly and we very much value your input. My advice is to ignore the negativity and combat this with your own brand of positivity. If there is something posted that is out of line, you can help us by reporting the post (see the triangle with an ! mark button next to the post) and we will deal with it. Hope you can find some enjoyment from this forum.

Don't worry about your English too much, we understand you perfectly.

Being anonymous does that. I very much doubt anyone here especially those fanatic ones behaves the same in real life and on MTF.

And if you a fan of a player more than tennis, it's natural that you want your guy to do well, and that would mean his rivals to do badly usually.

Also the negativity displayed is kind of reinforced by some troll posters. Nadal is an example. Many users want Nadal to do badly just to see these troll posters in ruins. It isn't necessarily hatred towards the player per se.
