Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

It just highlights everything that's wrong with him. While other players are practicing and training already, Bernard is out partying every night.

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

As expected, he goes from partying each week on tour to partying every night at home.

Oh how part of me wishes he loses R1 in Sydney and Melbourne...

Meanwhile, Tomic seems further from revealing his own coaching intentions than previously indicated.

Tomic, 21, told Fairfax Media in Shanghai last month that a coaching appointment from among two candidates was expected within weeks. His father John's 12-month tournament ban extends until May.

''There's nothing that I know that looks like changing before January,'' said Tennis Australia's head of professional tennis, Todd Woodbridge.

This is very ordinary. Clearly trying to play thru the bad form is not working so some time out will hopefully help. Tomic has stepped up at the events you know mean more to him (Sydney, Aus Open, Wimbledon, Davis Cup) however every single other event he has played shit. So that tells me it is a motivation and concentration thing. Take some time out mate and start fresh in Hopman Cup in January.

Just regarding appearance fee if that was the case, Pat Rafter used to always give back his appearance fee if he thought he did not perform well.. just a fun fact.

dont be so hard with him, im sure he is feeling pretty bad atm. its not as easy to find the solution, maybe on the paper it is, but in reality, its not. give him time, and give him a break. he is an amazing player

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

If by rest you mean going out partying, which I'm sure he'll be doing as soon as he gets home.

Same as every year

Mmmphhf - it was just a Challenger.
Did he get an appearance fee? If he did they deserve it back!

Re: Tomic on hardcourt 2013

Perhaps, but the stories from earlier this year certainly raise questions about their relationship. My point was more of how I don't see a coach, if one ever is brought in, would all of a sudden fix Bernard's problems as many seem to suggest after seeing that he behaves the same way when John isn't around. And even worse is that the people (physio, hitting partner, etc) supposed to help his tennis are actually hurting him by going out and doing whatever else during the season. The lack of professionalism is astounding...
