I am an atheist and I personally don't mind too much if people wear crosses (or headscarfs or whatever religious symbol) in private, but putting crosses in schools, city halls or other public places in a secular state is indeed a problem. Also teachers in schools should not be allowed to wear any kind of religious symbol, while they're facing their students. And I'm sure that most of the atheists rather complain about this than about personal beliefs. Freedom of religion also includes the choice not to be religious. But as a matter of fact, even in so called secular countries, you're very much influenced towards one or another religious belief.

What do I like about christmas? Gathering family and friends, whom I don't see that often, drinking, eating, chatting with them. Of course, that could be done on any other day, but as it is a good tradition here in Germany, many people have holidays between christmas and new year's, so it is just a great opportunity to do that!
What do I dislike about christmas? Pretty much everything else, including presents, christmas markets, the music and all the religious stuff.

Re: Does Christmas Piss Anyone Else Off?

what annoys me is the turkey, okay its fine for one meal, but the left over turkey concoctions are horrific, I am sick of fucking turkey, make it stop, seriously, there's a reason why the overweight bird doesn't get eaten more.

would be good if one religion/tradition stopped preaching others and just focused on celebrating own stuff or not celebrating anything at all

lately poles started celebrating commercial halloween, which is not polish tradition at all. i don't celebrate it but it doesn't bug me. for students it's usually just another occassion to get drunk and have an excuse for being wasted. christmas is an occassion for holiday even for people who don't celebrate
All I got out of this post is: I'm better than you, I'm not bugged by it.

Sounds pleasant doesn't it!

I heard American Hustle was a heist movie and was very good even though the guy has a wife and a girlfriend.
How is that a bad thing?
