1-15

Really quite astonishing. What is it about the last 16 that overwhelms him?

Hm? Gasquet was 7th seed, Wawrinka 9th. Higher ranked is usually taken to mean better ranked.

Fitness issues. He is a shotmaker that plays 3 meters behind the baseline and doesn't help him at all.

if he's grabs No. 8 or draws Tsonga in 4R at RG, he really should break this absurd run.

Re: Richard Gasquet's Grand Slam R4 Win/Loss Record.

He's due for (at least) a Major QF this year. If he doesn't snap his streak this year, he never will.

At Wimbledon (1) or the French (2), it's happening.

TBH he could still probably make GS QFs and onwards from 2008. But after that miraculous meltdown at Wimby'08, the same can't be said anymore.

Re: Richard Gasquet's Grand Slam R4 Win/Loss Record.

gasquet has no chance to met top-4 at r16 even if he will be 12th seed.
Top-4 always meets 13-16 seeded players at GS.
so, he has some chances to end his streak. But also has great chance to meet Rafa

The answer is obvious no that the OP was interested in it in the first place. The trolling is not very subtle.

Topspindoctor Gascoke is a mediocre journeyman which is a perfect explanation why he sucks at slams.

While it definitely is a terrible record, I think it is being made a bigger deal than it should be. As T.C pointed out, he played to his seeding. Most players average performance in tournaments would give a reflection of their ranking. Gasquet just has a smaller variation from said mean performance. Could be interpreted as consistently reaching round R4 or/and as rarely progressing further .

Re: Richard Gasquet's Grand Slam R4 Win/Loss Record.

For some perspective, here are Gasquet's 4th round losses:

2005 Wimbledon - Gasquet(27) L. to Nalbandian (18) 46 67 06
2005 USOpen - Gasquet (13) L. to Ginepri (unseeded) 36 63 76 46 06

2006 USOpen - Gasquet (27) L. to Hewitt (15) 46 46 64 63 36

2007 Australian - Gasquet (18) L. to Robredo (7) 64 26 63 46

2008 Australian - Gasquet (8) L. to Tsonga (unseeded) 26 76 67 36
2008 Wimbledon - Gasquet (8) L. to Murray (12) 75 63 67 26 46

2010 USOpen - Gasquet (unseeded) L. to Monfils (17) 46 57 57

2011 French - Gasquet (13) L. to Djokovic (2) 46 46 26
2011 Wimbledon - Gasquet (17) L. to Murray (4) 67 36 26

2012 Australian - Gasquet (17) L. to Ferrer (5) 46 46 16
2012 French - Gasquet (17) L. to Murray (4) 61 46 16 26
2012 Wimbledon - Gasquet (18) L. to Mayer (31) 36 16 63 26
2012 USOpen - Gasquet (13) L. to Ferrer (4) 57 67 46

2013 Australian - Gasquet (9) L. to Tsonga (7) 46 63 36 26

It looks like he lost to a lower seeded person 4 out of 14 times. The rest of the time, he lost to the person seeded higher than him. He tends to play to his seeding (the latest example being Miami) as do most players. It would be great if he was a big game player, but that's a mental/belief thing and it has been universally acknowledge that he is a mental midget. It seems something he is addressing of late and hopefully results will show in the slams soon.
